Because there is more than one ocean in the world. Planes can fly east just as easily as they can west. ;)

in Alberta Canada we currently pay 6% sales soon to go down. :D oh yah and DELL and APPLE are both total rips off here, sadly the only big manufacture that does not totally rip you off is acer... and well if anyone has seen my anti-acer posts they will know that no more needs to be said.

    Hello guys,

I live at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and here we have expensive price to buy a laptop from Dell Brasil or another manufacturer, except from those unknowns manufacturers.
I know that the fault is related to government, include taxes over the price and brazilian cost of transportation.
Here, we have not available the series Inspiron 1500, but I suggest you to compare prices from series Vostro 1400, 1500 or 1700.
    Here is the link http://www1.la.dell.com/content/products/compare.aspx/performance?c=br&l=pt&s=dhs
If you need an aid to translate some screens, you can call me in private.

You can feel free to do it and show us where is the more expansive country to Not Buy a Laptop.

By the way, I want to live at Canada and study english and french language. Merry Christma's

I live in São Paulo, and yeah, i got my Vostro 1400 for R$3300.. i think it's like $1700. It's a great notebook, but too expensive if compared to US prices. Although, there's all those taxes, we can clarely see that it's overrated..

THe macbooks like $1517 here in sweden and the dell is $1209.

Taiwan is closer to australia than to the US (either coasts).

It's Penang, not Penyang. Dell doesn't manufacture anything anymore. They just assemble parts supplied by their ODMs.

I'm in Singapore now, and looking at this flyer.. Compaq Presario F576AU Notebook PC is selling at S$ 1,099.00 . Haven't bought a laptop for a while now, so.. is that cheap or expensive? :)
