An old, familiar tune: There used to be a couple of great threads on this at the old Unofficial Averatec forums, but alas, they are no more! :>(

I've finally decided to repaint the lid on my Averatec 1080, but I can't seem to get it off. I've removed the four screws at the corners, but it's still stuck down by something. I seem to recall there were some delicate bits, so I don't just want to start prying.

Anybody know how to get the lid off without breaking, denting, or twisting anything?

I don't know if it helps, but on other averatec models, you can slide a fingernail in the seam to convince the case to let go. I think it has those double-edged clips to hold it in place for the screws.

I finally gathered up my courage and a decent non-marring prying tool and managed to get the bezel off, but when I got a good look at all the bits and pieces screwed into the lid, I decided to postpone the operation for a while.

For some reason, I had thought that the screen and wi-fi antennas were attached to the white part, and that the outer lid would just come off cleanly, but it's quite the opposite!

    Thanks for the help!
