I have had a 2100 series for over a year and didn't use it much at all.

Recently when i try to start the computer, nothing happens after pressing the power button.

When the DC power is connected, I see no Green/Red lights indicating that the laptop is getting power.

I have checked the DC cable to ensure that it is outputting power, as well as the battery terminal which is good also.

The laptop will not even run without the battery...
Any ideas on what to do?

PS> When i bought the computer there was always a red light when it was charging...maybe something related..

Mine does this sometimes. I remove the plug, and the battery, let it sit for a few minutes, and then it works. I hate this computer. Averatec sucks.

I have a similar problem with that as well. I've had my laptop for around two years and since about a year ago, this Averatec 2100 has been incredibly faulty. For one, it's made out of extremely cheap material, so many of my keys have faded to black, some keys popped off on their own, and the left-click button has cracked. In other words, gaming is a no-no on this computer. Additionally, like you said earlier, the computer turned out to be severely dependent on its DC power. Unplugged, the laptop now only lasts 10 minutes, at most. The little LED light on it used to be green when it was charging and blue when it was fully charged. Now, it's red when it's unplugged (I've looked on other sites and apparently, a constant red LED light means that the battery is defective) and nothing when it is plugged. It's also become extremely slow because of this occurrence. Lastly, the display automatically turns black when it's placed at an angle higher than 50 degrees. And if I close the laptop, then the display automatically turns black when it's placed at an angle higher than 25 degrees until the system warms up for an hour.

    Solutions to your problem?
    1. Keep your DC cable in and try to adjust it until the laptop is charging (For me, there might be a flashing green light).
    2. Make your Averatec your new paperweight (It practically is anyways now) and buy a new computer.
