so i went in like an idiot to upgrade the ram. same prob as jazsun, screen went black. took out the both factory 256's and screen came back.

somewhere in my operation i managed to disconnect the ribbon connecting the touchpad to the board.

    any ideas???

    thanks

Do you really need the touchpad? Just use a mouse, it'll be a lot easier then the touchpad.

I did the same thing and panicked.

    No worriesÂ…
The connection were the ribbon goes into has a tiny clip (mine was black).
Remove the clip with a small flat screwdriver.
    Slide the ribbon in.
    Then replace the clip.
    All done!

Pic from manual with a blue clip:

hey man, there is some easy great guides which help you to do, i have no experience taking apart laptops but because the 2100 is really a rebranded MSI lappy which is sold as a barebones there are many people who have taken apart their 2100 series lappies...

i used the guide that came with it too... also there are posts over at www.averatecforums.com too... that is what i used...

i took apart mine and replaced, the cpu and the RAM and it was easy as can be and this puppy is flying now... i have a mt40 in and 2gb of ram... :D

anyways if i was you i would go ahead and get this little baby and go to town on customisation... tis a lovely piece... despite the whole Phoenix business!!
    :D
