Just wondering what were some of the people's opinions about this product. I'm looking for something ultraportable, realitively fast with upgradable memory (but at least 0.5GIG), good battery life, and a reasonable price. All else is negotiable.

The Turion 64 Chip is a definite pro.

    Good? Bad? Thanks for sharing.

i have and absolutely love it. for the price you pay you get alot
only afew problems but when weighed with cost are not to big.

battery life is a mere 1:30minutes but an extened batter will push you well over 3:00

No recovery disks(i does however have a hidden recovery partition)

Ram...there could be alittle more due to the sharing with graphics

all of those arent big...i recommend this laptop

I just got one 5 days ago for $699 and I'm really impressed with it so far. The aforementioned review is pretty spot-on with all the pros and cons of this model. I would recommend it to anyone. I've researched pretty much all of the Averatec ultra-portables and the 2100 series is the only one that receives consistently positive reviews.

key note to remember...the 2100 is not designed by averatec nor some other minor company

the 2100 was made by MSI...which is a highly ranked PC maker....especially in he world of desktops but now they are catching up in the notebook area aswell...

With the mods I have I get around 3.5-4.5 hours of battery life without rmclock. As far as performance goes its slightly quicker then my 3.2ghz HT and on par when OC'd to 3.54ghz. It plays all the games I play (BF2, UT2003/2004, ghost recon, and tons of rts games), compiles/runs my .java files with ease, multitasks very well for a single core cpu, and boots pretty fast too. Now mind you this is on a sloppy format, My HDD needs to be reformatted and windows re-installed, as well as partitioning the HDD into 2 40gb partitions will free up a lot of performance. I also plan to run vista 64 and xp pro in a dual boot.

Hopefully with that done and a slot dvd burner installed, this pc will be set and I wont need an upgrade for many years.
