Hi all,
I have the 2300. I suddenly have a blinking battery indicator, alternating between orange and green.
I couldn't find anything online or in the docs about this flashing combo. The machine does not power on at all?
I'm hoping it is just a bad battery issue. Any ideas before i drop $110 on a new battery?
Thanks.

My first suspicion is that you have either a bad AC adapter, or a damaged power jack.
If you plug in the adapter without booting, does the indicator light show solid green? If so, you have a fully charged battery. And if so, will your notebook boot off just the battery with the adapter disconnected? (The battery indicator will not light at all of course without both a battery and AC adapter.)
Now try removing your battery and booting with just the AC adapter. Will it boot? And if so here is the important question... does the notebook stay operational as you increase the load (connect via a wireless connnection and play a DVD movie)? If it suddenly crashes, your adapter is shot. Replace the adapter first, then see if the battery will hold a charge. -
Thanks for the suggestion. It wouldn't power on without the battery, so i ruled out the battery. I took your suggestion about the AC adapter and bought a 90w belkin universal ac adapter and vola it worked!!! Thanks much. I was spending way too much time on slickdeals waiting for the m1330 to come on sale to replace it. Now i can rest knowing that i only spent a hundred dollars instead of having to buy a new notebook.
Thanks again!. -

Glad it worked. And nothing against the Belkin supply - other than you spent much more money than necessary. See my comments about AC adapters in this forum at:

I have a similar issue with an Averatec AV1050. The battery indicator light is green when the laptop is shut down but plugged in. It flashes green and orange when the laptop is powered up. It will not boot on just battery power, however, it will boot with the battery removed and only on AC power. The battery charge indicates 0%. Hopefully this is just the battery. I'm sure it is not the adapter since I can run an unlimited amount of time on AC power.

My 2200 does this exact same thing. I got a used battery off ebay and when I plugged that one in the light went to a solid orange. The manual says this indicates the battery is charging. After a few hours I booted up and the computer said 100%. The old battery was stuck at 0%. Since this was a used battery from ebay I decided I should run the battery calibration in the BIOS on this one. Doing that killed this battery. I think calibration function destroyed the battery circuitry in both batteries. At least I didn't buy a new battery only to destroy that one. I just wish I could go back and NOT run the calibration.
Thats just the info I thought I should share with everyone.

Confirming same problem on av1020-ED2.
Blinking red/green.
Computer works from AC power while battery is installed and charging, forever staying at 0%.
I asked in this forum about 3 month ago, only answer I got was to try other battery - as if such item was just next door.
So far noone has come up with a way to check the charging circuitry. Thanks for the warning about calibration killing the battery charging.
One tiny extra bit of information: I usually remove the battery before flying. The last time done, this effect started after inserting the charged battery.
The computer could never again work without ac power. Meaning the charged battery did not power the computer, meanwhile battery state is unknown. I never checked the battery connector outputs for any voltage. What's wrong - the battery, the charging circuit, the connection circuit, the charge indicator?
I am looking to replace this manufacturer with one of larger market share and a better support.
