found a local seller selling a used 3120V. i checked out the laptop and it looks to be in very good condition. i've seen only a few reviews on this laptop and they've been pretty good. my primary uses for the laptop would be for basic word processing, internet, digital photo viewing and dvd viewing.
i'm interested in this laptop mainly for it's size. i work out of my car (i'm a police officer) and would be using it alot to write reports while sitting in my car. not to mention the occasional dvd movies during my breaks =)
seller is letting it go for $550... what'cha think?

for 550 dollars that's a pretty good deal. Check with the seller if they are offering some type of warranty.

I think I told you to look for a used Averatec, this seems like a low risk deal to me.

originally, i was waiting for a friend of mine to sell me his (in about 2 months). he has a sony vaio w/ similar specs (12" screen/1.3ghz celeron/dvd/slim) but i can't recall the model number (anyone know what this model might be?). anyway, he was going to sell it to me for $600. i've never had any experience w/ sony vaio products.
just from reading these forums, seems like averatec is a favorite. plus, i may be able to get him to let it go for $500. either way, i'll spending less than the sony.
i'm now leaning toward the averatec, especially considering that i really would like to have it sooner than later.

You can purchase a 3150 for that much on ebay, and I think that is a much better deal than a 3120.
I may be selling my old 3150 in a little bit, too, for around 450-500. -
i did a check on ebay and see what you're saying. any other input on the 3150 vs 3120? the one on ebay was a 3150 w/ 1.4 amd and had cdrw/dvd. the 3120 has a celeron 1.3 w/ only dvd.
also, what's the max ram for these? crucial says 512mb but i saw an older ebay listing that had a 3150 w/ 640mb.
thanks... Deo
