3200: Volume from headphone jack fades in about 3 seconds. Wiggle the volume dial and it comes back but immediately fades to nothing. It acts like a dirty potentiometer dial but the volume through the speakers is fine (as fine as the 3200's get). Anyone experience this?

I'm a hack when it comes to explanations, but it sounds like a capacitance issue.

First, I try a different set of headphone to rule out that variable.

Assuming the issue didn't change, I'd power the PC down completely, remove the AC & battery, give the jack & pot a quick couple drops of electronics cleaner (not WD-40, but a REAL electronics cleaner) to remove a buildup of semi-conductive crud. Let it soak in for a couple dozen seconds, then twist the pot back & forth some, as well as push the headphone plug in and out of the jack a couple times.
