Any ideas on how I can fix this?? I've got a 3225HS-20 that I did the fan auto learning thing on with great success. Yesterday I followed the instructions on how to fix a loose power jack. I opened the case and resoldered the jack with no problem. Now the fan runs fast, slow, stops, starts, stops, starts fast, starts slow, etc... It will run steady if I do a scan, like Windows Defender. I ran the fan auto learning again, but still is erratic. Thoughts?? Thanks. Great forum BTW.

I think you may need a BIOS update. The fan's thermal regulation is controlled at a much more core level outside the OS.
I am not sure what the significance of your soldering work is... -
I have an Averatec 3225 with the exact same problem. After the AC adapter connection got so bad that I couldn't wiggle it and find a spot that would keep it on AC power, I had a tech friend take it apart and solder the connection. The fix worked like a charm. I have absolutely no problem with the AC power connection, but the fan has gone crazy. I reran the fan calibration in BIOS, but it didn't change a thing. I've had a Targus cooler pad for about a year now, and it's done a good job of keeping the temp low and consistent, so it's not a temp thing. I tried SpeedFan, but either the laptop doesn't have a hardware monitor chip or SpeedFan can't see it (it only sees the HD temp).
If you find a fix, pls post it here.
