After flashing with the 1.04 BIOS found on the Averatec site the laptop restarted and just gave a blank screen. All the symptoms of a bad flash basically:

Seeks DVD, HD for an instant and then just remains at a blank screen with fan at full blast.

I've tried the AMIbios recovery procedure using a CD with just the AMIBOOT.ROM in it to no avail - the CD powers up, sort of accesses but does nothing more.

However I am not sure if it should work though - I have a feeling that feature is only AMIBIOS8. On the other hand I'm considering borrowing a USB floppy to see if that might work (although I have my doubts).

Has anyone had any luck with this or with any method of recovering (or replacing since the BIOS appears to be soldered on the board) the BIOS on a 3200 series (or any series Averatec for the matter)?

It's not the same outfit that did the old forum ... but it should become just as popular.
