I have a averatec 4265. Recently I changed a Hard drive and reinstalled windows xp. It works fine first. But after several start up, it can not start again. It shows no disk, cME H.P. error or just restart after show windows xp. I searched around, this may be caused by Phoenix cME software, but do not know how to fix it. Anybody can help me with this issue? TIA

Hi there, I am not sure of what that message might exactly indicate, but did you use the CD that came with your 4265 or did you install a brand new Win XP. What I can suggest is trying to install the CD that it came with. I personally don't use the Pheonix recovery since its asking for an upgrade.

I used a new win xp, do not have a recovery CD. The hard drive is totally new. During win xp start up the laptop resart and then said disk read error.

Is the original Hard drive still functioning or did it die on you, because if its still working and have the original XP I would recommend making a boot disk from it, read this post:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=154704

after that you can use it with your new hard drive. Or reinstall windows again install all drivers and hope for the best.
I am assuming the actual hard drive have no problems, can you test it on a different machine to make sure? or if its a big name brand (Western Digital, Maxtor) they usually have free software to check the hard drive. Good luck.

I already deleted the recovery partition when I received it one year ago. After changed new hard drive, first it can reinstall win xp. But later it can not start up, always said " disk error". Now I can not even format the hard drive using win xp installation CD, though the hard drive can be used on another laptop. I am wondering if it is hard drive controller problem. thanks Aeroplay for your reply.
