    So.
I've read some other posts about this.. but i'm still unclear on how this works..
I want to buy These http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121121 speakers..but im confused on to how they would hook up to my laptop.
I can't really read what it says on the back here

but would i just change the audio output to spdif and use some kind of cable? What cable do i need? I don't know how to check if these speakers support this. Would i need to get a pcmia card? Or is there a way to set the microphone to a 2ch audio out? ..but then what about the sub? Lemme know what i need to do this please!

    Thanks !
    -James

The headphone port on the HEL 80 and its small brother, the HGL30 is capable of optical out. The light only turns on when the proper plug is in the jack. I can't tell from the image whether it supports optical in or not (I'm guessing it does) but if not, get a TOSlink Adapter (google it).

    Hope that helps! :)

It should just work if you plug in the proper optical plug. After plugging in the speakers, just set your audio in the realtek program to 5.1 surround.

I'm not sure. I looked though the other thread you just posted on as well, and I can understand your confusion. Maybe someone else can answer that? :p
