Enyone tried hooking up their 5.1 speakers under vista?

I have a zepto 6625 WD, and in vista i cant chose the 5.1 speaker option, all i get is stereo. my card is realtek hd audio

I've tried with the latest drivers from Realtek, and still not working.

Read posts on this forum and found out that this issue is common under vista.

If you had this problem and already figured it out could you please help me.

I've not tried it as of yet, but am very interested on how you get on with
it as I'll have my own surround sound system put in the first or second
    week of January.

Let us know if you find a solution or answer to the problem?

I have a 6214W (same sound card) you need to use an optical cable for 5.1/7.1 sound. I have the optical cable plugged into a creative DDTS-100 decoder. In xp and vista the programs say they dont use 5.1, just stereo, but its not entirely true. Obviously stereo sources are stereo. But say you play a dvd, my decoder picks it up as DD or DTS deppendant on the dvd. On the gaming side of things im not so sure. I never really got sorted with the whole surround sound thing (I now play games on a desktop)

I've had no problems at all. You need a MiniTOS to TOSLink optical cable between laptop and what ever you're connecting it to. Then just set the device to Realtek Digital Output from Sound menu. And maybe some codecs, depending on what's the source of the sounds. ;)
