Hey to all my fellow 6130 users let me ask you a question.

How hot does your power adapter get? Just curious because mine seems to get extremely hot and today I noticed that the adapter light was off and that my laptop was running on battery power. It had been plugged in all day and all of a sudden it stopped working. I unplugged it and let it cool down for a few minutes and plugged it back in again and it seems to be working, but im not sure what to make of this.

I'm hoping this was just a freak occurrence but it made me wonder if my power adapter is messed up. I've had other laptops and the adapters got pretty hot but i never had them cut out on me before.

I might just be paranoid but just to be sure let me know if this has happened to anyone else.

    Thanks,

I haven't had mine cut out on me, but i notice that it can get quite hot when i am doing intense things on the computer. Esp if i am also trying to charge the batt at the same time, but at times of high use, it usually stops charging the batt.

But usually i find that under basic uses, it is just warm.

When my power adaptor failed, it took out the motherboard/powerboard with it....twice. In my case, the green light on the adaptor will flash, instead of remain solid, which I believe is an indication the adaptor has "fried".

for me its about as hot at the underside of the laptop of a bit more hot over the HD.

    Knightmare-
I have too noticed the adapter does get fairly warm. In fact, i would set my feet on it during the cold months to keep 'em warm! [ :D]

But i've never had it stop! I would keep an eye on that considering Frontier4x4's experience.

    RadcomTxx-

I notice that too when i'm doing something HD heavy. Like due to a) very little air circulation around the HD, and b) slower drives work harder, hence the heat. From what i've read, swapping the stock drive with faster rpm, this will help decrease the heat output. Keep in mind doing that voids Averatecs warrenty [ :(]

I found that the adapter also heats up a fair bit when doing intense things. After i finished playing a game off my harddrive last night, i felt the brick, and ouch!! too hot to touch. But it was still going.

I've been watching it the last few days and it seems to be working normally since it cut out on me Sunday, but I'm going to keep an eye out for the next few days and see if it happens again.

I was backing up a bunch of DVD’s that day and the constant use might have just caused it to shutdown. I was backing up DVD's for about 6 to 7 hours!

Anyway, thanks guys I appreciate all of you letting me know that it's not just my power adapter that gets extremely hot, and hopefully this wont become a bigger problem like it did with Frontier4x4's.[ :(!]

Oh! DamnageD I know exactly what your talking about, I sometimes use my laptop in bed and on really cold days it keeps my feet nice and toasty! [ :D]
