    Hi,

I recently purchased a Zepto 6214W and along with it a 5.1 Surround sound system by Creative, unfortunately after searching this site and reading other threads it sounds like the green/black/orange cables are incompatible with the Zepto sound setup. I'm gonna be sending back the setup that I purchased but I was wondering if anybody new of a relatively cheap setup that uses an optical cable (5.1 preferably)? Also, on the topic of speakers, whats an Aux in port?

    Cheers guys,

    -Walrus

Aux is an extra input, so you can connect more than one sound souce without having to switch cables.

regarding a cheap 5.1 setup. What is your budget. That makes it easier to look.

    Cheers.

I wouldn't be able to use the Aux in port as a port for the 5.1 surround sound speakers to connect to the Zepto laptop by any chance would I? As for budget, less than 50 preferably.. All I need is that extra port for the optical cable, and my current 5.1 setup cost £50 or there abouts but without it. Is it a luxury kind of port or do most setups just not cater to it? I could go with 2.1/Desktop style speakers if it means hitting budget, but ofcourse I need that optical cable port.

    Thanks zombie,

Optical is on most midrange systems i would think. Personally i never had a purely pc speaker system, other than the normal stereo speakers and headphones.

But both surround amplifiers ive had have had digital inputs. But they werent what you would call cheap.

Actually, i think the best solution would be to call are mail the place where you want to buy your speakers, and ask them to help you out. And say you need a set with an optical input.
They will be able to guide you to the cheapest set, and you can see if your budget can handle it.

I only looked at some logitech speakers and the specs on the high end ones said they had optical inputs, but at 300 punds they are a bit pricey.
And the midrage and lowrange didnt list what kind of inputs they had.

Yup, doesn't look like £50 is going to get anywhere close.

There are these, cheapest I could find, but still 4x your budget.

Edit, OK it's getting better. These appear to have a digital input, and have got OK reviews on Amazon.

    Thanks for the information guys,

I think those Soundlogic appear to be pretty decent, and not too far from my budget so that looks pretty good. Whats with the insane price difference between cannings and Amazon though?

    Cheers!
