alrite guys. a little problem here, i'll try my best to explain it:

say i close the lid of the laptop and leave the laptop for 10 mins.

(ive set windows to not do anything when i close the lid)

i'll then come back to it, open the lid, but then the screen wont turn on, pressing buttons/moving the mouse does nothing.

so i decided to connect it to my external monitor while the screen wouldnt turn on. it works on the external monitor but not the lappy.

if i press Fn + F3 (change between displays) you can see that the laptop screen is trying to turn on, but wont. it will flicker slightly between different shades of black and then stops.

the only solution ive found is to restart the laptop, which is rather annoying to say the least. i use the laptop in my lectures at uni, taking notes, close the lid to save battery power, open up again and i cant see anything. I have to try and save my notes without a screen and then restart.

anyone have this problem? anyone know a solution?

    thanks

why don't you just let it go to standby... uses even less battery life and boots virtually instantly anyway.

because i leave the laptop downloading alot of the time, i dont want he screen left on and the wireless to remain on. Thats not the point anyway, if i want to close the lid and come back 10 mins later i would expect it to turn on!

Could we get the full link instead of the ... version one? Would help the others to use the hotfix too, as the link as you got it there only takes you to an error page, and I've got little clue where you dug that from.

I covered that a little in my HEL80 (2425W) review, and here's a direct link to the hotfix:

It is more than likely the same fix in the discussion RichardBaines linked to above.
