I have just recently bought a 6214w and i cant play play CSS or FEAR Online for more than 15 min because than the system wil jam and i get a frozen screen.
Sometimes i get a blue screen that sais: HARWARE MALFUNCTION and something about a memory issue.
My question is, is my grpaic card just overheating or is it really broken.
Ive tried to fix the overheating by changed the Active Cooling Temp to al lower vallue but that didnt work.
Ive used al kinds of drivers the one dilivered on the CD the newest ones, and very old ones.
    Nothing works...
Ive read the thread about poor costumer service in england, and it looks like the servie in Holland aint much better.
Ive send alot of email to the customerdervie and i aint getting any reply.
Ive tried RJ but hes on an vacation.
Does some one heve the same problems or does someone know how to fix this overheating (if its overheating and not an broke videoard).

I really hope someone can help beause in holland it looks like im the only person with a zepto and at this moment it doesnt make me proud at all.
    PLEASEE HELP!!!

    THANKS AALLLLL

Im the guy who wrote the "poor customer service" thread. Please read this, which I also wrote: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1534344#post1534344

    Are you problems similar?

If you can't reach customer services i'd strongly advise getting in touch with "MJK - Zepto" on this forum, I believe he's the operations manager and I imagine would be more than willing to help

Thanks Richie for your quick reply :D but my laptop doesnt restart itself, its just jammed on the last frame and is showing some artifact, the blue screen comes very rarely and sais that there is a hardware malfuntion.
I know it aint my proc thats overheating cause i ran Prime95 for about an hour and no errors occured.
The strange thing i figered out now is that it crashes faster with CSS when i'm playing myself.
I set up server with 10 BOT players on the de_dust map and spectated it with HDR on and everything to its max.
It ran for about an hour with no problems en no jams.
I was full of joy thinking maybe the z-note stopped irritating me, but after a short game in a real server playing myself it jammed again :'(.
Now im thinking its not the grapic card (although its jams with artifacts) but maybe te keyboard or network controller.
I red that the BIOS update for the 6214w contains a keyboard bug fix or something.
I short, it could be anything that f*cks up my znote, and i really hope i dont have to send it back bacause of a hardware malfunction.
Anyone any ideas about how i cant test my znote to find out what part is the bottlneck??

Allready thanks for your support.... :D

cs:s if full of artifacts when you have settings too high. even on my x800 xtpe on my desktop, if i have setting too high weird things will happen, textures will look funny, guns start floating around my screen, very weird! If the sound loops when it crashes its a very common fault! check out the steam forums for answers

thanks again Brain :D, it think your help wil exlude my graphic card from my possible bottleneck list.
and youre right the sound loops, what does that mean btw?
i found out that if i wait with rebooting my system when css crashes, every 10-15 sec the game will run tot he next frame and crashes again.
I guess that that means the system isnt jammed at all, or it wouldnt be able to load the next frame (still it crashes again after every 15 sec and again and again)
I guess you can say i have a ultra low fps with 1 frame every 15 sec :p
but now i really dont know what to test anymore.
and im not even sure if the graphic card can be excluded.
i wil run some other games like FEAR online to see how it crashes in that game, maybe ill find something out.

But im still open to suggestions about test or what could be the problem

Really really thanks again all!!!! :D

Sound looping issues, I've had them with all of my pc's so far, one evesham, my current desktop and my new laptop, although with my laptop the game never crashed, just hung up for ages and then resumed. Although after abit of playing my game would crash/ shutdown the laptop, but this is to do with my overheating.

    Please see here:

    http://support.steampowered.com/cgi...WFyY2hfdGV4dD1zb3VuZCBsb29w&p_li=&p_topview=1

I didn't have any problems with FEAR, although i only tested the single player demo, and my laptop reached 96 degrees! Although i'd take a wild guess at that been my overheating problem!

    Also you could try this:

    Verify integrity of game cache
    Load Steam
From the My Games tab, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
Steam will verify the game cache files (GCF's) - this process may take several minutes. Do not verify the cache files for multiple games simultaneously - as some games share cache files with other games, this may cause problems with verification.
Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

One last thing, in CS:S do you get strange purple surfaces like floor etc? if you do type this in console:

    mat_specular 0

Thats me done, hope i've helped :D

thanks brain ive tried al things but nothing works:'( i installed new sound drivers new network card drivers, even updatted the bios to 1.11 but nothing works.
ive ran speedfan after my computer crashed and it that all temps are between the 60 and 67 degrees, i guess a little to hot :p immagine wat i would be like when i play css.
the strange thing alhtough is that it doesnt crash with prim95 so again i think my videocard is suffering most form the heat and is causing the problem.
although i played last night css lost coast with everything to the max full hdr and i played it for about an hour with no crashes.
It looks like my laptop has some kind of mood, cause sometimes it can handle and some times it wont handle the heat.
its a bit strange and i think im gonna send my laptop back to denmark and ask for a new one or at least a repair that fixes the problem.
And brain i read your thread but is your heating problem fixed now or couldnt they do anything about it?
If thats so i think they shouldnt sell this laptop as a "gamers laptop" if it aint handling some basic games.
im contacting zepto today will post a replay this evening

I'm sending my Z-note back today cause it stopped working at all :(
By mistake i plugged my mouse the wrong way in the usb (upsidedown) and the screen just went black....
Could it be possible that i blew up the mainboard?
The firm mailed me back again and set that the blue screen with:

    HARDWRE MALFUNCTION

    NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Could be an error in the memory on my board or on my videocard.
So i hope that theyll manage to fix it :)
    Il keep yo updated

    Peace Niek

hehe yer right... zepto is the WORST firm i have ever been so unluky to buy from...

i have the same module as you have, its around 1 year since i bought it and i have been able to use it around 3 month IN TOTAL since i got it... (mine overheat all the time and they are unable to fix it for more then 3 weeks and then BAM excatly same problem)

theire repairing time if over one month and the only thing they do is put cooling plast on it, which isn't even a half way solution.

lately they have just been ignoring me and they generally don't give a F about the costumers that have problems with there badly made labtops...

sadly to say it takes a hell lot of energi and time to drag them to court (and money :S )
but this seem to be the Only way to get your money back so you can get yourself a computer that works...

which even when they have been totally useless and unable to fix the problem, they refuse to refound....

i am not even gonna say what i think about them, you get the picture when you use 14k on something that don't work and if you ever should get it to work again its hopelesly outdated and useless at that time :S

    ps:
i am going for atleast a full refound and a compensation for there exstremely bad service and way of handling this.. you should do the same.

Have you bought your computer in the UK?

I brought it also to the repaircenter.. and only thing they do.. is putting coolingpaste on?!... And after the second repairing,.. they are now ignoring my email's

Are you talking about Zepto the Netherlands?

erebus, have you had any joy? achieved anything with your cause?

i have the same problem, an overheating 6214, which ahs been sent back to no avail. i am thinking about threatening legal action to attempt to force a refund, because i am frankly disgusted with their poor service, ignoring email, and inability to offer any other fix than some cooling paste...
