Does a beeping charger mean it's packing up? It beeps when I plug it into the wall socket without the laptop, and plugging it into the laptop doesn't charge it. Also the green light doesn't come up on the charger anymore...

If so, this sucks, I need a new battery also so £90 for the battery and £50 for the new charger is steep. Anybody used an unofficial charger for it?

Every adapter with the same specs should do it. Plugs are standardized.

Cool, so by specs you mean voltage, current provided and adapter shape right?

Don't buy an unknown cheap brand.... we have seen many dead mainboards because of bad AC adapters. It seems that some brands don't really care about a volt or 2 or amp or 2... :)

Sorry for not mentioning, thought that's common sense.
