Thought i'd post here to garner people's opinions before getting in touch with Zepto itself. I left my 6224 on overnight and awoke to find it switched off, no power/battery/hdd LEDs lit up.

Didn't sound good, so i unplugged/replugged the power cable leading to the battery light flashing yellow. I tried turning it on succesfully until about 2 minutes later when the 'no battery' message came up in Vista and it shut itself down.

As far as i can tell, the battery isn't accepting a charge, however the battery light continues to flash yellow when it is plugged in to the mains. When it isn't plugged in, no lights flash/turn on.

I've so far left the light flashing for several hours (to see if that was indeed the charging light), and have removed the laptop from the mains for a few hours (to see if it was a heat related issue).

Has anyone come across this issue before? Am i right in thinking that the yellow flashing battery light means it's out of battery?

    TIA

nb. the laptop is still under warranty, so worst case scenario is to return it, however i thought i'd see if this was a common problem and easily fixed.

Does the computer still run on mains power, with the battery removed? "No battery" is a strange message since, when the computer is on mains power then there should be no need for the battery to be present.

If it is not running on mains power, with battery removed, then there is a power supply problem which could be with either the PSU or the power board in the notebook.

Good idea - I tried it last night, and sadly no success. As you mention, i think it may be the PSU.

Time to get the warranty process started! (sigh)

You could look around to see if you could borrow or buy a universal PSU with 19V 4.74A. The Zepto uses a standard power plug on the DC cable so most of the universal PSUs will have a suitable connector. That would confirm whether or not it is the PSU and possibly avoid having to send everything in.

I think it's going to be harder to source a universal PSU unfortunately. A quick scan of online parts shops here in Aus doesn't yield much!

    Thanks for the suggestion however

Targus is the first name that came to mind. See here.

Belkin is another bigger name for this type of accessory, but you may find that your nearest computer / electronics store has something which fits.
