I received my zepto 6224W laptop a few days ago and I am very pleased with it so far.![]()
However I was wondering if these temps were ok for this laptop/8600M GT. On idle it runs at 66 - 70 degrees and on full load (gaming) it gets to 95 - 97 degrees?
I used rivatuner to get the temperature and I am running on stock drivers.
The only reason I ask is when gaming sometimes the screen 'refreshes' to black and then eventually sorts itself out. If I go back to the desktop the drivers report an error and they had to reset(cant remember exactly).
It has happened on two games so far, half life 2 and titan quest.

There are several threads over the past month or so which discuss temperature issues. Since your 6224W is very new it should have the latest BIOS (...05e), but it would be prudent to check. The previous BIOS versions had some temperature-related bugs.
One way to get the temperature down is to undervolt the CPU. This can drop the full load temperature of the CPU by up to about 10C which will leave the cooling system better able to handle the heat from the GPU. The undervolting procedure is discussed in one of the threads.

I did check the bios version and it is the latest one.
Undervolting looks to be a good idea but I was wondering if the bios only controls the fan based on the CPU heat and not the GPU heat. Very rarely do I hear the fan go on to full like I can hear it when I start up the laptop. That could well be that sound is often on then though heh.
Thanks again for your reply. -

That's a good point about which temperature sensors control the fan operation. Perhaps Rene can tell us?
However, as discussed in another thread (or more?) undervolting does help to drop the overall temperature.

you can allso set the power option to balanced, it lowers the voltage and core clock when idle (undervolts all the time)

I think setting the power option to balanced is a good idea, thanks sprint. Also undervolting with rmclock has certainly lowered the heat a bit when gaming.
I emailed the tech support and they said that the card can handle up to 127 degrees before it will shut down! So I am much more relaxed about it now since I wasnt really concerned about the heat just the temperature.
The zepto customer service has been excellent for me, thank you zepto! -
Hi, sorry to-be intrusive in this way but arent the temps the OP described a little worrying? If the laptops designed to last say 'atleast' 2 years, and it's running at that temp.. shouldnt that be something to worry about?
