    You are correct.

The 6625WD drivers are not online yet, though.
I've only made the FTP ready for the drivers for the new machines. As we haven't actually received the 6625WD's yet, we don't know if the drivers are different from the 6224/6324W. But yes the 6224/6324W driver has indeed been uploaded :)

The 6624W screen is obviously matte. Does it have a 'hard cover' to it like a gloss screen or is it a bit soft like the old laptop screens used to be? i.e. get a slight 'shadow' in it when you touch the screen?

I feel like a leper for even asking - but has anyone seen any benchmarks for the released 6224 yet?

    Nope.

But the first few people will get their laptop today/tomorrow latest. Keep your eye on zeptoforum.com. If I see something interesting I will try to translate it and bring it over here too.

Is it me or does the preproduction version look like it's got a brighter screen?

it is hard to tell because of the different backgrounds. Also the resolution is not the same i think. On the left one the icons look huge.

On closer inspection you could be right there Wave... I think the brightness could be slightly dimmed too due to it running on battery, as I can't see any power cables etc. What do you think?

I thought that 6224W had a glossy screen, but with a anti-reflective (matte) film. That would look like the beta version doesn't have it, but the real thing has.

Can those pics be of a 1440x900 resolution display? The left one escpecially looks to be a lower res than that. Maybe my eyes are tricking me though.

That can't be the 1440 x 900. I have the same sized screen with 1280 x 800 and i have ten icons stacked in a linear line, whereas the left laptop in the picture has only eight?!?

That's what I thought Thorne. As a rough guestimate, I make it only about 650 pixels vertically..

The number of icons in the display all depends on various Windows settings such as "large icons" and a different dpi setting etc. It may well be running at the higher resolution. Unless there's a shot of it with the display options dialogue box open there is no way of knowing for sure, even then you could adjust it without applying it. So really, and this is in my opinion of course, it's impossible to tell from a photo.

*edit* unless of course you start measuring the task bar heights in various resolutions to see what % of the screen they take up. Even then it's guesswork from a photo.

I know lots of people prefer matte but I prefer glossy as my eyes don't seem to focus on the reflections and I find the colours so much clearer. Guess I'll have to see what the screen is like when my machine arrives. Shame there are no test machines to view/visit. Would be nice to have the option of matte or glossy in the configurator.

THe matt 14.1 on the 6224 is very good, I use to have a glossy tosh, the tosh looks better switched off but the Zepto works better. I love glossy but matt is so much more practical in light.
