    Hi guys,

I have a little problem : I've read here and there that my 6224w can read SD HC cards.

As you can guess I write here because I can't do so.

I bought a PNY 4GB SD-HC card, and when I put it in the proper slot, nothing happens. The blue led on my notebook is lighting ok, but windows doesn't react at all. No new drive, no message, no error. Just nothing.

I'm on Vista with all the updates done, and I have the last driver for the cardreader.

Anyone have the same problem, or know how to solve it ?

    Thanks in advance !

Where did you read that the 6x24W series supports SDHC?

The specs I have say "3in1card reader (MMC and SD)" which means SD, MMC and Sony MS.

I know that my 6024W does not support SDHC which I do find an inconvenience, so I had to buy an SDHC card which came bundled with a SDHC - USB adaptor.

Well, here for example. Viiper says SDHD in his post instead of SDHC, but I figured it was just a mistake.

I may be mistaking myself about this.

Anyway, it would be wery surprising for this kind of hardware (new and expensive) not to be able to read SDHC cards... That's why I want to know if anybody can read these cards properly.

The card reader does not support SDHC. Only standard SD cards.

Too bad... It's a shame for that kind of upmarket models.
I think the only way is now to buy an external card reader able to read SDHC.

    Thanks for the answers !

OK I will not beat arond a bush with a Zepto REP. nor a well repected member of this forum, but when I bought my 6224 the review said SD HD.

I got my Zepto and I can supply model number. It was one of the first with a 2.4Ghz Dual core before they were removed from listing. Zepto UK can confirm.

I switched on my LAPTOP and inserted a 4GB SANDISK ULTRA II SDHD
    It does not read

I placed in a 4 GB DATASAFE SD
    It reads

    READ
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card

    according to the wikipedia

    =========================

The point is there are 4GB SD cards that are not SDHC but work in the zepto, I confirm the DATASAFE 4Gb listed above to be one.

At the time of posting, the definition of SD said the limit was 2Gb and I had/ HAVE a 4GB card in my Cowan D2 player SDHC compliant.

I believed this was SDHC because of it's capacity size, apparently it is not 100% SDHC and niether is it fully SD, but it works in SDHC & the ZEPTO.

    http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk...ith_DAB_Digital_Radio___4GB_SD_Card.2543.html

You tell me, SD limit 2GB but they make 4GB versions...... sorry poster.

    To Conclude:

4GB SD variants do work, lucky time has passed and USB is becoming a bigger device... storage capacity 16GB +

SDHC does not work, but the format can be read by a usb SD reader, not the same but a solution if your using a SDHC card from a camera etc etc.....

Thanks for that clarification about the differences between SDHD and SDHC.

I don't know how much of the SDHC support is hardware and how much is software. Last year I had a Samsung Q35. It came with XP and the card slot didn't support SDHC. Then I installed Vista and found it could read SDHC as well. :)

I know it supports Memory Stick Pro, but does it support Memory Stick Pro DUO?
    It's smaller in physical size...

The 6x24W series uses the TI PCIxx12 series controller for the card slot.

I Googled for "TI PCIxx12 SDHC" and was taken to this thread in another forum. This pointed me to a newer driver for the TI controller. I installed that driver and my 6024W immediately recognised 4GB and 6GB SDHC cards (this is under Vista - there is a patch for XP for SDHC support). That driver is version 2.0.0.7 dated January 2007.
Perhaps Zepto could update their website to include the latest TI controller driver and announce that they have added SDHC support to these notebooks.

    whooooow that's really really great!
I've just ordered a 16GB SDHC for my Asus Eee!
But if my Zepto could read it, I also can write on it! Amazing!!

Thanks John, I've been away and just caught your post about the Jan TI driver, Nice to see a solution of the SDHC format. Now I can read all those camera SDHC cards :)

Yep, we can read SDHC, but the speed isn't wonderful. Fortunately, it is fine for copying photos from camera memory.
