I have been burning with single layer DVD using my 6235 laptop. I have been quite happy with it. I am thinking to try to burn with DL to take advantage of the 9.4 G media. Could somebody post their experience? the software used and the media used and the number of, uh, coasters made? thanks

well, not even 1 reponse. Ummmmmmm......averatec users are either too poor, can't afford the dl media (cheapest one can find today:crapusa memorex 10$ for 3 DL DVD+R) or simply, like me, did not realize the lite-on is a DL burner,......hey, post your experience

OK, the thing you need to realize is that a Dual DVD drive means that it can burn DVD's in either + or - formats, not that the drive will burn dual layer disks.

I am NOT that sure. I check out the lite-on site, this is a dual layer burner, not a Dual +/- burner. I called the averatec tech support, (I am almost sure that the guy does not understand the question) he sweared it is a dual layer, not a dual +/-. Unfortunately, he cannot tell what is the difference, he just read out from the spec sheet. Amen [^] for the tech support division.

Nero Info Tool should tell you if it is DL.

Finally.......... http://averatecforums.com/showthread.php?p=14305#post14305, a successful DL burning using Memorex media and Nero, burned to 8G disc. So, the 6235 DVD burner is a DL burner, the first double layer burner in my family! Wow! I will post my experience soon.
