    Just a little feedback.

Got a 6615WD with 2GB ram, running XP Pro SP2 fine but with some (limited) heat issues if I played Games for 2hrs plus.

I was using Altec Coolerfan pad which seemed to sort it.

I'm dual booting XP and Vista Ultimate now and even with the limited driver support provided by Zepto atm it runs just great.

Download the modded inf driver from Laptop2go - it improves performance a great deal (at least in WOW Anyway).

And to date (about a month) no overheats and I am not using and additional cooling...

No BSOD nothing just stable nice Vista.

I'm thinking of purchasing Vista Ultimate but I get a free upgrade to 32bit Vista home premium.

Did you use the 32bit or 64bit version of Ultimate?

I have used Vista Ultimate since a week before lauch. And i have been very happy with it so far. No Crashes worth mentioning.
Performance wise, i found if i switch off aero i get a far better WoW experience. (We also played some Rune, old game, great fun)
I just had a mini lan weekend with friends, and we played allmost non stop for 2½ days, and all was good.

With all non gaming i have fun Aero and all is good.

However there is still some driver stuff i would like to be better from Zepto.
I still havent tryed installing any other drivers than the ones in the 'Vista' folder.

I am using 32bit version vista.

    Cheers

Whoa, 2 1/2 days of nonstop gaming? That's impressive.

I think with a little time, the drivers and such for Vista will be sorted out.

I have my doubts that Zepto really is Vista ready. But i dont know what it takes to claim to be Vista Ready.
Yes, the 6615WD can run vista, and it runs with auro and all. But what about drivers to all the devices? What good is hardware that, on papir should be able to run a new OS, but in practice doesnt have all drivers sorted. That bugs me a bit. Even though i do use Vista Ultimate, im still missing my webcam and some of the 'FN' key functions. Im sure there are other things im missing, but havent notised.

    Cheers

so if I was going to uprgrade to Vista in say in a years time you would think that drivers to the devices would be better prepared?

I say, if your happy with Windows Xp, and your a gamer. Dont upgrade.
Waiting a year would definately help. Driver support should be better. And driver performance should be optimised.
But games will only ever, at best, run just about windows xp level of performance. But most likely slower, hopefully not more than 5-10% at its worst.

    Cheers.

I agree with these sentiments, but can't put the blame on the hardware merchants. It is a new OS, after all, and all the little unforeseen issues need to be discovered before they can be fixed.

Definitely. I think Vista will be much more integrated into personal computing in a year.

Again I agree with the above statements. I think Vista gaming may see some nice improvements over XP though with time--but it may take a higher-specced system to do so. I think Vista gaming will take some time to get straightened out with all the driver issues they've been having.
