Yes, i did it. I now i regret it.
My 6615WD has been working flawlessly since october. But yestoday i finally gave in, and installed the latest (the ONLY) video driver for the 6615WD from the Zepto.dk ftp site... BIG MISTAKE.
Now i get windows memory errors. Ive had 2 kinds so far.
nvsvc32.exe & svchost.exe (cant read.. yada yada yada)
René, whom i talked to at Zepto, was very kind like i have come to expect.
I should have a driver cd by tomorrow with the old drivers. So thats good i guess.
So why on earth did you update your driver you ask?... Yes, your right. It wasnt broke, so i shouldnt try to fix it. I KNOW I KNOW.
But i read about the image enhancements that the 9x.xx driver series had. So i said to meself.. "Well i do watch allot of dvd's on my laptop, a better viewing experience would be nice."
Well, i take it back. The dvd's are just fine the way they are, give me my stable laptop back please..
I shudder at the thought that my hours-on-end gaming sessions with wow, will be haulted be random memory errors. Unfortunately i havent had the chance to play for a week now. What if it crashes, wtf?
I cant help but get a big knot in my stomach. Drivers are suppose to fix problems, not cause them. Is it just me? have i been a lucky mofo all these years. I hardly ever have trouble when updating drivers. ATI, Nvidia whatever.. they usually work. But whats with this laptop hassle?
I spent allot of my youth (im not 30 yet, so youth is a relative term), building and overclocking, installing and tweeking computers. Pushing for that last bit of performance. Now im older, and i just want things to work.. period.
I dont overclock, i dont use experimantal drivers, my computers dont sound like they are gonna launch into orbit any minutte. I even use legal copies of windows on all my gaming computers! How wierd is that?
I dont wanna come home from a hard days work (i work in IT a sysadmin btw!), and have my computer crashing and spampopping windows errors... I just wanna wind down, have a beer, play some wow.. have another beer, is it to much to ask?
There is a danish IT newspaper called 'Computerworld'.
This weeks issue has a big article about Zepto in it.
On the front page is a quote from the managing director of Zepto Danmark Lasse Frost. Ill try to translate. "Are we to have success against the worlds biggest pc manufacturers, requires hard training and creativity. We know we dont have the same opportunities and resources as our big competitors, but we will just have to find a way to run a little faster down the long straight than they do.
Okay, so You are trying to run a little faster. But what good is speed, if You stumble over the hurdles on the way?...
BTW. Has anyone else had problems with the drivers from ftp.zepto.dk? I seem to recall some tread about the gfx drivers.
Cheers all. Thanks for listening.

Weird. 91.31 is fine for me, spite for the Popup issue which apparently has a fix to it on the ftp.

That does seem to be kind of a big reaction to a video driver upgrade though. Did you have any errors or failures when you were installing the new driver?
And did you uninstall the old one first, shut down, boot, install new one, boot? -
hehe, i know. I just got a little emotional. I guess i just like zepto allot, and when the driver didnt work as i wanted, i had to vent.
And yes, i uninstalled, booted, installed new driver.
Ill try once more tomorrow, before i do i clean vista ultimate install.
My laptop is the only computer i have that should be able to run vista with all the visuals.
Cheers. Im on my third beer now, so im calm now. -
Try to reinstall the driver again, and if it doesnt work you should try to go to www.laptopvideo2go.com and search for the driver there. If you want help to this, feel free to contact me.

. I know how frustrating it can be when a seemingly simple task becomes a problem that you can't figure out. It's like, "Why oh why won't you work for me?"
BTW--are you running Vista now or XP? If it's Vista you're running it could be driver support. -
This very minutte i startet vista ultimate for the first time.
It looks like windows found most of the hardware. But the display driver is "standard vga" so i need to find one. Also the mass starage driver seems to have a problem.
Maybe Zepto will have a vista section on the their ftp site soon
Ill get back on how it goes with the drivers in vista.
Cheers -
Good luck. Hopefully it all works out for you in the end.
-
www.laptopvideo2go.com should have the drivers for vista you need to your gfx
-
Yes, they had drivers that worked. And Wow works. Not as smooth as with WinXP but they work. Now i just need to get a driver for the 3-in-1 reader.
Cheers
