    Hey

Recently got a zepto 6625WD and installed xp on it.

    Specs were

    core 2 duo 2.0ghz
    2gb ram
    8600M GT 512 MB
    7200rpm hdd

Installed all the drivers on the given dvd and then installed 3dmark 06 to see what I get.

I was shocked by getting the below score

    3055

when the advertised score on the websie is 3800 and other owners have been geting around 3600

Something is wrong here dont know what can any one help I am running 3dmark 06 build 1.02 the basic version.

Also in the 3dmark06 cpu test I am getting 0 frames per second, which makes me think if both cores are working or not, how do i check ?? and in all the graphic tests never above 18 frames per second.

    help please

    Hey,

Did you have set the powermanagement on "Always On"?. And also check the Powermizer of the NVidia settings.

If that even doesn't help, try a newer driver, maybe on the FTP there is a updated version compared to the on on the cd/dvd.

And are you sure you have run 3dmark on the same resolution as the others?

those scores are pretty normal, I've got about the same score in vista with an T7500. All the benches on zepto are made with the T7700.

Set the battery options to max performance and make sure that the powermizer in the nvidia control panel is set to performance.

In xp the power management options are the following only

    Home/Office
    Portable/laptop
    Presentation
    Always on
    Minimal Power Management
    Max Battery

So I just created one of my own and changed all the turn monitor off, harddrive off settings to NEVER and its the profile I used for the test

In nvidia control panel I changed the system performance settings to High Performance and turned the Powermizer thing off

My screen is running at resolution of 1680 x 1050, but the free version of 3dmark06 which is the one I have runs the test at 1280 x 800 which is what everyone else ran it at and got more than 3500.

Now with modified settings I get 3079 which is on XP and its still couple hundred points off from what I should be getting

did you use driver on the ftp site or the cd/dvd provided.....coz I should be geting those type of points too.

also did you change your screen resolution to 1280 x 800 or is that neccesary since the test runs at 1280 x 800 it self

Could Rene S Zepto help me on this one please??

Installed ntune and this is what it says for the graphics card

    Core Bus 475 Mhz

    Memory Bus 400 Mhz

Shouldnt the memory bus be higher, can others who own a 6625wd tell me what ntune says for their graphic cards

I get very similar scores too and I think it's normal. The people who are getting 3500 most likely OC'd their card (I got mine to go that far with an OC). I can also run the bioshock demo on med-high with 20-35 fps in DX10 (stock clock) so don't worry you still have a nice gaming machine :)

Your clocks are standard, you can make them higher by overclocking but I don't advise it.

I am very paranoid so yea this is why all the fuss, but most people who ran their 3dmark06 on this machine did not overclock at all. Even in reviews of this laptop on the net they report getting scores around 3500

I need some input from the zepto team on these forums lol before I calm down.

And also are you running vista, since I tried installing my own copy of Ultimate but once installed vista didnt recognize my dvd drive (the default on on the zepto site) at all, tried everything and it didnt work so I just installed xp and it all works fine.

By the way if you are running vista can I ask a favour.

Could you please export and send me your registry files for the following key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

to do this go to run >> type regedit >> browse to this key using the plane on the left >> select 4D.......right click it and select export, save it to a place and upload it to me.

I ask this since this may be able to fix my missind dvd drive problem in vista

    Thanks very much in advance

First of all, I've done no OCing at all. And yes I ran at 1280x800. But no, I'm not using zeptos drivers. I'm using the latest 163.44 from laptopvideo2go.com - mainly to get hardware decoding to work with 8600m gt on XP (which it does brilliantly now).

**** I have the free version of 3dmark06 which runs at 1280 x 1024 by default, no wonder i got 3079 , il try the pro version off a mate and run it on 1280 x 800 to see what I get.

By the way did you use the moddenf inf stuff for the 163.44 drivers or not.

    thanks again

Btw if you want a better benchmark run 3dmark05 instead, since it uses 1024x768 you can run it on your laptop screen and get comparable results. I got 6300 in '05

Only is that it doesnt support Vista, so you might get totally wrong results

What doesn't support Vista? 3DMark05? Oops, I must be doing something wrong because I can get it to run under Vista (don't ask how) and get plausible results.

Yeah it might work properly, but as Vista isnt supported it can cause undesired happenings.

I have noticed doing my reviews that the 6625WD got only 3017 while the 6224W got 3279 or similar. I don't know why that is either.

Read the rest of the thread and you will discover that the lower result is caused by the higher resolution display. And when you report the result, document the display resolution used.

    The reported result for 3dmark 06 @ default res = 1280 x 800 is around 3800

At first I thought the basic version would run at the default version would run at the default res but actually it ran at 1280 x 1024 since my drivers were not updated and the sysem could not be se to 1280 x 800.

At 1280 x 1024 the machine got 3055 3dmarks, after updating drivers from laptopvideo2go.com (163.44) I ran the 3dmark at 1280 x 800 and got a nice result of 3679 3d marks which is about right since the zepto site results are taken from a 2.2 ghz proccessor machine whilst mine is just 2.0 ghz

If your running 3dmark 06 at the default resolution of 1280x1024 then that score sounds about right.

XP and Vista results should be similar. PCMark05 is very dependent on CPU speed and HDD performance and less so on the GPU. However, 6300 is off the top of the scale. Even this well-specced Dell 1720 with T7500 and twin HDDs only managed 5377.

did anyone notice a strange behavior upon installing the 163.44 drivers on their 6224W ?
Mine freezes whenever I access the Nvidia Panel, and then when it recovers, I have random freezing periods =/

3dmarks gives me 3497 points at 1280x800 (with 162.18 whql, Vsync forced on)
