The 6625WD is one of the only notebooks available with an LCD that that can work at 50Hz natively. All oldskool and demoscene people out there will know what "smooth scrolling" is how much of a pain it is to get PAL emulation working properly on an x86 system.

After installing the 169.09 XP-32 driver from laptopvideo2go and enabling the classic control panel I noticed something I have not seen before. Under "Digital Flat Panel Settings" there is an option "Reduce DVI frequency". When this is enabled (make sure no apps are running when changing this one) the refresh rates change to precisely 50Hz! The magic 50Hz seems unique to the 6625WD as I've tried this with a number of notebooks and the closest was 51Hz which was still causing frame skipping.

The catch is that it only works for WindowsXP-32bit. I have a tri-boot setup so this is not an issue for me, but it will be for many others out there. NVIDIA should really make this option available in the newer control panel UI too (at least for us emulation junkies! ).

The C64 works only with HOXS64 (current version is 1.0.5.16). See attached for setup.

The Amiga emulation works flawlessly with WinUAE (current version 1.4.6). See attached for setup.

    The driver:

I've attached a custom driver INF with the following changes:
    1. Added resolutions: 840x525 (1/2 native) and 1120x700 (2/3 native).
    2. Forced the old control panel UI.

The added resolutions are great for gaming as the scaling performed is "cleaner" than the other standard supplied resolutions (but this is subjective).
*** After decompressing the driver you will need to overwrite "nv4_disp.inf" with the one attached ***

Btw, if anyone can get the "Reduce DVI frequency" option to show on Vista-64 or Linux, then please say how to do it!

    Interesting.
Does this extend battery life and/or screen lifetime?

I doubt it in both cases ;) But it might be of some interest to those into HD since the 1080i/25 standard runs at 25Hz which should display with a lot less tearing on 50Hz instead of 60Hz. But that's just theoretical, so it would need to be tested to see...

Apart from the phenomenal, ground-breaking, unbelievably amazing benefit to people (non-US) interested in emulators / demoscene - nope, no interest whatsoever to everyone else!
