I think I bought 6625WD back in 2007 Dec, time flies and this morning when I turned it on the expected have finally caught up to me; the 8600M GT GPU had died on me.

The laptop would boot, and after a while I could hear the windows sound luckily I have remote desktop setup on it, and I could login from another computer, so I knew it's just the GPU.

And baking really does work, I heated up my oven to 200 degrees Celsius and ripped all the plastic and paper bits I could see on the gpu off, then baked the thing with GPU facing downwards for 10mins. Waited about 20mins for it to cool, then plug it back in and my 6625WD acted like nothing had happened...

Something's definitely wrong with this batch i guess, go on and try bake yours if it did fail, worth a shot!

It is an inherent defect with all of that series of nVidia GPUs. They cannot withstand repeated heating and cooling. The oven treatment temporarily puts things right.

here's hoping to another 3 years.. or i can accelerate it's death by overclocking :p

any ideas about 6625WD's PLL? I've searched through the internet, used to remember inventec's website had 6625WD model's specification, but I can no longer find it :(
