Hey, I got my notebook just a few days ago and have been trying to optimize it since, when running games though, my pointer has a pretty severe delay, of perhaps half a second. Which graphic settings I run doesn't seem to have any effect on this, having tried most options while running Bioshock and overlord. Also I'm pretty sure it's not the mouse itself, it's a microsoft notebook optical mouse 4000, but I've also tried using a Logitech MX518 with the exact same results. Graphics drivers and dx drivers are up to date, and the framerates ingame are quite solid, ranging from 20 to about 40 depending on settings, this should not be the problem either.

    I'm running Vista ultimate 86x on a Znote 6625WD 2.0ghz, 2gb ram, 8600m GT.

    Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Is the touchpad behaving OK both with and without an external mouse being connected?

The only thing I have experienced which makes a USB mouse unresponsive is other heavy traffic on the USB system. Have you got anything else connected to the USB?

Does Device Manager show any device problems?

Afterthought: Are you using the optical mouse on a shiny surface. This can confuse them and cause all sorts of problems. I use either the table top (as long as it's not very shiny) or a sheet of of paper

Try disabling the touchpad if you arnt on the run so much. You can disable it trough Windows or BIOS

The touchpad is disabled since long, there's no othe USB devices plugged in, nothing amiss in the device manager and I´m running the mouse on a standard pad.

After some additional testing, it appears the sluggishness is slightly worse while running games on very high settings. I'm thinking there's a driver issue somewhere, or this is simply how it runs but it's some kind of thing everyone's experiencing and thus don't bother to complain about, it's my first laptop so I´m not very familiar with their performances.

Again however, even running overlord on low in 800x600 has the mouse severely delayed, kind of ruining gameplay so I dunno.

have u got the drivers from laptopvideo2go.com?

edit: its not normal for the mouse to be that slow, im playing battlefield on 12xx x 1024 and settings on medium and processor state at power saver ( so it never uses over 1,2 GHz x2) and its fast mostly, only small downhills in framerate when Windows comes up with something fun to do in the background
