are either of these available? I'd like to see if there is an option to provide firewire power, so that the 4-pin unpowered socket could be replaced with something more useful. And of course curiousity.

 

I dont think its possible to change the port layout. It would need too much customized parts.

Or are you thinking of doing it yourself? In that case Id suggest mailing Zepto.

 

considering the possibility of doing it myself, idle curiousity of the sort that sometimes develops into something useful. Obviously it would almost certainly put an end to my warranty, but I'm afraid that all the information from here means I will only ever be using that in case of catastrophic breakdown, and either fix anything minor myself or learn to live with the problems.

Anyway, I believe the firewire and expresscard slots are part of a monolithic unit, which implies this would be too much trouble to change. Probably a lot easier to create some kind of rechargeable battery for firewire devices (although less convenient).


I see you have a new computer and are selling your Zepto. I guess you decided mobility wasn't all that useful?

 

I have a desktop now. It was for sale yes just have forgot to remove it from here.
