I recently got myself a nice 6625WD. It's currently NOT running dual-channel, but 2 gigs of RAM in a single block (waiting paycheck for a second stick).
Tusly, we're running the following:
XP Home Edition (32bit, can't get 64-bit drivers)
2.4GHz processor
2024MB of RAM
512MB Geforce 8600M
All drivers are up-to-date.
I've installed SpeedSwitchXP to ensure no down-clocking on battery-use.
Despite all of this, performance sill goes to hell as soon as the plug is pulled. I bought the PC to replace a 6 year-old DELL that had a run-down battery and busted keyboard, but could still play WoW and the likes no problem.
Now, when I load up WoW, it's reduced around 5-6FPS with a lot of "bursty" action (it's like 3 frames, then a 3-frame period without any updates, hen three frames). Does anyone have any clue why it does his, and where the hell I change the power-options to fix it? I use the PC as a travel gaming-platform, this includes a 3G wireless modem and tons of train/bustravel, so unless I can get it fixed, I would've been better off buying a new DELL battery and keyboard![]()

Alright, been tinkering some more wih it again, and a freak lick turned out something interesting- tuning off the "maximise" setting when playing in windowed mode has the FPS go up for some odd reason
This is around 40 FPS on outlet power, 12-19 on battery (aka slightly playable, but sill **** compared to outlet) -

I suspect that the GPU power management automatically puts the GPU onto a lower speed when on battery in order to conserve power. Otherwise you might find the 6 cell battery is empty in 40 minutes or less.
You may be able to drop the overall power consumption by undervolting the CPU. See the undervolting guide.

Since you're using XP, You will need to disable the Powermizer in the Nvidia Control Panel. This will allow your GPU not to underclock while on Battery.

It's already been disabled, which i why it makes no sense- and yes, I realize it'll kill battery life, but that's really not much to worry about for me, my main concern is having it work at 100% efficiency all the time.

Just gonna bump and see if anyone has any suggestion/possible solution? I really don't wanna have to switch to Vista ~.~

Tried another BIOS version?
anyway whats wrong with Vista? Its about as fast as XP after SP1, people need to realize that.. -
That's weird.. After installing XP on my 6314W i didn't have to tweak the settings at all.. It was working fine after installing drivers from laptopvideo2go.
So your problem is ONLY while using only the battery?
edit: If you play in windowed mode, that's usually pretty choppy with whatever settings, at least so i've noticed.
