This might be of some interest to those Zepto owners that are experiencing issues with their keyboard. After trying a few solutions I find that the "Keysonic ACK-540RF" seems a very good workaround for this problem. I'm not fond of anything that is both wireless and short distance as bad battery life and intermittent operation always seem to crop up! The ACK-540RF however seems to be rock solid and very reliable. Another advantage of this model is that the wireless mode is "non-Bluetooth" and works without having to enable the machine's Bluetooth hub. Works flawlessly in in XP-32, Vista-64 and Linux (Ubuntu 8.04-64).

The keyboard is very light (500g) and extremely low profile (2cm). The physical construction is good although the plastic casing feels a little "cheap". The keys on the other hand feel very solid and have excellent tacile feedback and perfect travel (at least for touch typing).

The touchpad is large with a good finish and more sensitive than the 6625WD's built-in one.

On whole, I can highly recommend the "Keysonic ACK-540RF". I am a Colemak convert, a developer by day and take my input devices very seriously! Fortunately my 6625WD came with a good working keyboard that has not let me down yet, but I am always open to "better" solutions!

I hope this helps those out there in a some way ;)

(Btw, avoid the "Keysonic ACK-540 U+" like the plague! This is the non-RF version, of very low build quality and the keys are completely unusable for any real typing work. Simply put, absolute rubbish!)

Sorry if the post looks a bit like a sales review, but I just wanted to help the others out there. And no, I do not currently work for any hardware manufacturer ;)

Cheers Christopher ;) Btw, how is your keyboard holding up after the repair?

I would be very interested if anyone has found a similar "workaround". Can you please post your setup?
