I just bought a Znote 6625WD with a 2.2 GHz processor and 2 Gb ram and Intel Turbo Memory.
The machine is performing great, but has a couple of issues, one of which is quite serious:
The machine goes to sleep all right, but when I wake it up again it freezes after a couple of seconds - sometimes at the log-in screen where it says Welcome, other times the destop displays and then freezes.
I have tried reinstalling Windows Vista Ultimate, but that hasn't helped.

By the way, the drivers for Intel Turbo Memory aren't installed since they cause Windows to stop booting correctly (it hangs at crcdisk.sys).

    ----
    UPDATE:
I have now discovered the solution for this problem. Disable ACHI in the BIOS (under Advanced). This will also disable Intel Turbo Memory if you have that and it will probably not be possible to re-enable it unless you reinstall Windows, but it solves this problem.

Start by installing the two Vista patches mentioned here.

My next suggestion is the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. This will have been installed because of the Turbo Memory but it has been known to cause various problems (I can't find the page I was reading earlier). Make sure you have V7.5 or newer.

Thanks for the suggestion - just one question. Should I do a clean install of Vista and load the drivers then?

I would try running the Storage Matrix installer. It should update whatever is there now. Or you can go to the controller in Device Manager and use the update driver option.

Reinstalling Vista and loading the driver at that stage is the last resort.

OK, I have experimented a bit with the matrix storage manager. Every time I install the SATA controller drivers, Vista refuses to start - it simply hangs at the boot screen forever (in safe mode it hangs hangs at crcdisk.sys). The same happens, when I load the drivers during installation.
I really don't understand this - could it be faulty hardware? I ran Vista's built-in memory diagnostics and it didn't find any memory errors.

I'm wondering if you don't have AHCI (whatever that means) enabled in the BIOS. I don't think it is enabled by default but AHCI is necessary to get the Turbo Memory to work. See the attached (from 6024W) for a clue for where to look. Get this working at the Vista installation - I'm currently trying to figure out how to do the change after installation and avoid a BSOD.

I seem to have that enabled in the BIOS as well, though the configuration options are greatly simplified on this model. It explicitly says that Robson is enabled (I don't have acces to the BIOS right now - I'm reinstalling Vista yet again - good thing it only takes 15 minutes).
This really is strange - I'll be contacting Zepto on Monday for sure...

Yes, I read that thread - we'll just have to wait and see, I guess. Thank you very much for your help. I'll report back with Zepto's answer on Monday.

In my case I haven't yet got working Turbo Memory and the only problem (which may/may not be related) is the computer sometimes bouncing out of hibernation after a 5 second delay.

Just for fun I deactivated AHCI (and thereby Robson) in the BIOS and now my system resumes from sleep correctly.

I understand you, but I assume that a BIOS update will correct this. I'm still contacting Zepto on Monday to make them aware of this issue.

If you haven't read it already, read Anandtech's analysis. My primary interest in Turbo Memory is to extend the battery run time (probably an extra 10 to 15 minutes at best). A general boost to performance may come in time as more intelligent drivers emerge. However, if you are attracted by the potential benefits then factory installation is better than a DIY upgrade.

    Rene,

Do you know if the new 6625_z15N008.iso BIOS on the Zepto site corrects this issue?

It does not as far as i know correct anything related to this.
I' still waiting for a complete changelog from our BIOS team for this BIOS.
