Hello, i have received my spangly new 6625wd and it is a fine peice of kit!! i havent found a game i cannot run full spec yet (albeit not full res, although most games dont support the res of the lappy?).

There is one game i am having problems with tho (see the title)

I have done many searches with few answers and all the answers i have found, i have tried but to no avail!

When i try to run battlefield 2142 i get a message "insert the original cd/dvd" or something to that nature, yes it is an original dvd and not a "backup" or dodgy copy.

I have tried running in administrator, disabling "Turn off user account controll" and installing hotfixes/patches (all reccomended by the tinternet). but to no avail.

    My system is the following:

    NVIDIA® Geforce 8600M GT
    2.40 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo T7700 800MHz
    4 GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC5300 Original Zepto

    160GB 7200rpm SATA Harddisk Samsung®
    Intel Pro/Wireless 4965AGN
    Microsoft® Windows® Vista Ultimate- UK 64bit
    Intel® Turbo Memory 1GB

I hope someone can help as this is boxing my brain!! lol

I've had this happen with a variety of discs that use copy protection. Sometimes, you just have to re-seat the disc a few times, as the verification part of the disc isn't being read properly. If worse comes to worse, you might need a no-cd crack, but then again, you may get banned from playing online if that's found out.

    Off topic a bit, sorry,

You have a almost the same setup as I do, except I opted for Home Premium
and a hybrid HD. Everything else is fully loaded and pegged to max like yours.

I find that despite all updated drivers via Vista Update and Zepto I find that
BF2142 runs 'ok.' I get around 50 fps at max settings with 1024x768 reso
and a lot of screen tears. MOH Airborne I have to run at lowest setting and
again 1024x768 to get a barely passable play experience. Any thoughts?

As for your issue, I know this has occurred to many non-zepto users so I
don't believe it's directly related to your hardware, but I'm no techie. This
seems to be a Vista issue rather than a Zepto one. I know that up to 1 or 2
months ago most BF2142 players running Vista were having issues getting
the game to run at all. I assume you've already updated it to at least 1.25?

    Hope this helps!

Im playing Battlefield2 on medium, and fsp is around 50-60 after a few minutes playing (so it moves all info to Virtual memory). But I just increased the Virtual memory to 3gb-5gb from 1-2,5gb wich it was by default, and I also have a External hdd as 4gb ReadyBoost.
Now this made a big diffrence, I havent got any rates, gonna get em tonight. But I can tell you there was a diffrence!

So, go Control panel->(classic view) Performance tools and information->Adjust the appearance and performance of windows->advanced tab->Change (in virtual memory box)->custom size: Upper value '3072' (no ':s)
    lower value '5120'
or just 3000-5000 (chose to use the values as ram eg :p)
then hit set & ok and restart computer.
    Go test after this ;)

Of course. Though I'm only using Zeptos latest drivers as the others suggested
on this forum didn't give appreciably better results. Since the computer hasn't
been running as fast as expected, I've been checking Zepto's ftp site every week
    or so for updates.

Note also I have 4GB so adjusting virtual memory may not yield much :)
