When I plug my headphones into the headphone socket they do not work and the sound continues to come from the speakers. I have tried this with a number of headphones and I can't get them to work. A small red light is lit all the time inside the socket, which I assume is the optical output. Any ideas on getting this socket to work?![]()

If you're using Vista, sound seems to be setup a little
different than xp... I assume you've already checked
your settings?
I had the same problem getting my sound setup when
I first started using vista. -

stockwell ,you need to install the Realtek HD Audio package from our website as this feature of changing to the headphones are controlled by the Realtek software:
ftp://ftp.zepto.dk/Znote6625WD/Drivers/Vista/32Bit/Audio/Realtek_HD_Audio_R1.80_Vista_32bit.zip -
There's a newer driver here (1.82), though I don't know what the changes are:

We do not recommend drivers from Zepto unless we've tested them ourselves. This is the reason for me not linking to the Realtek site. We know there are newer drivers out than the one listed on our site.

Well I have no problem with drivers from Realtek site. 1.82 works fine on my 6625WD

to get back on topic: You need to select headphones as default output device instead of the speakers. Double click the sound icon in the taskbar.

I don't need to manually change anything on my 6024W. When I plug / unplug something into the headphone socket the Realtek software gives a pop-up message tell me what I've done and it switches the audio between the internal and external.

The reason why the Realtek software is not pre-installed along with the drivers is because the Vista system prepare program removes it when we prepare the images. We are working on getting this fixed.

Now I have installed the Realtek software mine also gives a pop-up message and switches automatically. Strangely though the sound dialogue box in Vista no longer shows the headphones even when they are in use!

nor is mine, but thats because realtek takes care of the sound in/output
