I think I've got a serious problem with my 6625wd. I was playing a game (civ 4) when the screen went blinking for several seconds (the picture became sorta ''striped'', like heavily distorted in some kind of a striped pattern)
I turned the thing off and then back on, the Zepto startup screen appeared heavily (horizontally) distorted again (ZEPTO beyond recognition) and then froze.
I thought overheating was the issue, but this happened this afternoon and it's been the same whenever I switch it on - I get the same distorted Zepto startup screen then the screen goes black-grey and nothing happens (the hard drive seems to work for a minute and then stops).
Do you guys have any idea? I bought the laptop last November when I was in Germany (I remember picking some EU guarantee option), I hope I'm entitled to customer support here (UK), I'll give Zepto a ring the first thing tomorrow morning, but I was hoping I could get a faster response here as to what might have happened
Update: I've just tried to turn it on, doesn't seem to get even to the startup screen now... the screen goes dark grey and slightly fluorescent

I believe that there might be something wrong with your GPU, overheating could be one off the causes..

Do the problems fit the description here? If so, you need to contact Zepto. They made this statement over a month ago but have then been quiet.
John -
I think it fits that description or, well, at least it did, these lines and striped pattern appeared once or twice, a grey black flurescent screen is what I've been getting since yesterday evening
...been trying to talk someone on their UK customer support line, so far with no apparent luck, Br. Adams ''you're driving me crazy'' is all I've been able to get through to this far... -
Is the problem same as my pix . here.
Mine was fixed by GPU replacement 3 times but eventual fix was money back, one GPU only lasted 1 week -
Yes, exactly, aside from the lines were horizontal in my case, not vertical and the fact I got a screen like this just once, before I restarted the notebook... just a flurescent grey screen after that ... pretty much the same as in that pic as well
-
It sounds like a GPU fry, as it happened suddenly and while gaming, replacement is only option (like you didnt figure it out allready
)
-
I suspect that might well be the case or some sort of component fry - CPU, LCD, hard drive etc, but I can't be sure. Actually I was promised an answer by 26th. There's something else though, I used the laptop for work as well and there's some pretty sensitive corporate info on the harddrive, including personal financial info. The point is I really needed to get on with my work next week and Zepto told me getting the thing fixed would take up to 15 working days, now I don't wanna get sacked over a stupid laptop, I was wondering if getting the hard drive out would void the guarantee or I better leave it and try and get Zepto to deliver it to me the first thing they get the laptop. What do you guys think?
-
Take the HHD out, it wont void the warranty, and your information is safe and you can put it some other laptop and continue working
-
my bsod's getting rather frequent... man, not good being a 6625WD owner eh..feels like disaster awaiting to happen
-
Tried running on just one RAM stick for a while (then swap stick)?
If it BSODs on one stick and not the other you know where the problem is -

A better way:
Download memtest86+:
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Burn the ISO to a disc.
Boot the computer with the disc in the drive. When the program have run one pass without any error there are nothing wrong with the RAM. -
Well, actually I liked the machine pretty much, mine was quick an responsive, the LCD is a beauty, hm, was a beauty, I did like it, well, before that thing happened , that is. I just hope it gets fixed quick.
Do you guys know if the hard drive is easily accessible? I've been searching the web hoping to find a schematic or something, but haven't found anything of use yet
Update - I've just got the thing out, turned out to be as easy as ABC, only one thing left to find out ... whether Zepto's support is as good as we all (owners of Zepto laptops) hope it is
