So, I have a few questions, mostly to the officials. But first, for ppl planning to remove the keyboard go here for the removal.
Right, as I took out the keyboard, first thing diffrent from the "tutorial" was another safety plate under the keyboard (pic 1). Under the hood it also lookt a bit diffrent from the other (in the "tutorial"). So heres my question, what are the modules with a circle around (Pic 2). Also component 1&4 seems to be removable (blue box), am I right?
Next, the silver thingie (Pic 3) (on bottom left-bottom corner), whats that??
And finally, a kinda funny thing, "Warranty void if removed"? Void for what, the RAM-stick? Kinda lolled at that one(see pic 4). At least most ram sticks have lifetime warranty, no matter removed or not (dont remember the brand). Official, could you tell me what its about?
The last image is just glamour shot![]()
edit: damn the images got a bit mixed, heres the setup: 1, 2, glamour, 4, 3![]()
edit2: daamn how did i manage to double post??
edit3: CAUTION: Before starting to play around under the hood, REMOVE PSU & BATTERY and a important, empty the condensators by hitting the power button, it scared the hell outta me when it flashed on/off becos I forgot that!

Thanks for sharing your findings. I'll repeat Rene's warning that removing your keyboard may invalidate your warranty (which I interpret as meaning that if you break anything, then don't expect Zepto to pay for fixing it).
That silver thing on pic three is the HDD wrapped in metal foil. It's the same on the 6x24W. I asked why and was told it was for shielding. I've plenty of notebooks without this shielding and my concern is that it would tend to keep the heat in. When I changed the HDD, I didn't bother to put the foil back and that was a couple of months ago. HDtune tells me my HDD (WD2500BEVS) is at 36C, but it goes up a few degrees if worked hard.
As for the objects on Pic two, I think 1 is the CPU (you can see the clamp for the socket), 2 might be a passive heat sink (northbridge?), 3 might be a mini-PCIe card (wireless, etc, but will have some connections) and 4 is the big lump of metal hiding the GPU.

The GPU is an add-in card on this machine, but the machine only supports the card that it's born with, as the BIOS on the Motherboard holds both the Motherboard BIOS and the VGA BIOS.

hmm, it would be interesting to see this laptop without the top cover, and really see how its built. Iv never actually seen a laptops engine, just these big metal boxes (maby cos its a bit easyer that way lol).
Supprised me that the cpu isnt under the fan, cos aftr all, thats the most heat emitting part (right?) in the computer, second place to gpu.
And about the warranty, I kinda guessed it, it just couldnt be forbidden to clean the lappy, or just have a look on your own responsibility.
btw, question for 6625wd owners: Do your keyboard go slightly up in the left end, like 1-2mm compared to the cover? Just need to know if its a bit wrong mounted or if its a layout "bug"
btw, couldany official post some pics of you lappys without top cover? Just curious -

Sprint, I would say that the gpu heats up more than a cpu with a mobile architecture. But again ... I could be wrong.
For your note on the "Warranty void if removed" sticker on the ram modules, its the same thing with every ram stick. It's even stated on the heatsinks when rams are equiped with it. -
but the gpu is mobile architecture too? theyr after all called 8600 M(obile) GT

Sorry to revive an old thread, but was surfing the forums and stumbled upon
Sprint's pics and was very happy to learn about the inner workings before I
was about to 'crack' open my own 6625wd (tools are laid out by computer at
very moment).
Thanks as well for showing these pics, and though you've probably already
since had your question answered, if not, I also have the 'lump' between the
keyboard and monitor, by the left speaker.
Thanks for the post, even if it was 2 months ago! -
Im not shure about what 'lump' your talking about, can you specify a bit
(or are you talking bout the GPU?)
btw, looking on these old pics, I started to think about why there is a extra plate of metal between the keyboard plate and the cooling stuff? What does it help? All I can figure out is that it stops the heat that the CPU and GPU produces from coming up trough the keyboard?
I think Ill someday test to leave the lappy open and attach a usb keyboard and see what the temps are saying (with extreme precaution ofcourse). -
