    Hi,
I've now had my 6625wd (still at original configuration) for little over a month and been reading up how to improve it on various sites, you known, undervolt CPU, oc GPU and such like.
Am running Vista 64 and its been a b.... getting programs to run  .
Have finally managed to installed RT2.06, RMClock2.35, 3Dmark06 and Orthos.

After testing the GPU in 3DMark06 (only testing SM2.0 and SM3.0 for 20 min) noticed the fan kicks in at 82C, stops again at 75C and the highest temp observed was 97C!! I find this incredibly high. My idle/surfing temp is 65-66C.
Would appreciate your idle/max temps for the GPU.

97 is pretty low for max temp...

the 8600 can run at around 109-111 for extended periods of time.
i think the built in safety is around 113 before it turns completely off

Idle temp around 46-50 degrees, and max temp around 73 degrees.

cpu is a 2,0 ghz undervolted to 1.000Volt.

    edit:

hmm maybe i missread it, was it for the 8600? then my max temp is 97 degrees, which is fine. it wont die before 120 ;)

uhhh 97 is pretty high in my opinion. my gpu hits like mid 80's as a max. i forget exactly what the temp is. maybe 87 was the top? 5 degrees away from the shut off temperature is ridiculous.

But you have a macbook pro, the cooling system is MUCH better than Zepto ;)

Norup58; Dont worry, those temps are safe for a 6625WD

Ok, tks for the fast responses. So my idle of 65C and max temp of 97C is normal.

Thomas, you say max temp is 120C. Is there a built in safety that shuts down the lappy before this temp is reached?

    For comparisons:

    Idles: 49-52C
Work (large file photo editing): 60-65C
    Gamine: 85-91C

Since posting this thread being trying to oc the GPU using Riva Turner.
Am a little uncertain if my way is correct:
Have raised the mem in 25 Mhz steps until 3DMark06 or Vista gave me an error. Then raised in 5 Mhz from last good test.
My question is: do i just do 1 cycle of 3Dmark06 tests to find out if my oc is stable? Is 1 cycle of 3Dmark06 representative of the conditions one can experience in a game?

Do you use ntune or Rivatuner to monitor GPU temps?

I think you should try in-game testing to see if you can see artifacts

Am using Riva Turner and have set it up so i can monitor the GPU temp during 3Dmark06 tests.

97C is something the 8600M GT chip can handle, but it is somewhat one the high side for a 6625WD. I have my 8600 oc'ed to 575/1150/450 and I reach 80C while gaming.

Artifacts can be polygons flashing black instead og showing the texture it should show.

Your temp is fine, I would personally not recommend anything over 100c.

Try putting your system in standby, wake it up and run the test in 3Dmark06 again with visible temperature readings, I'll bet the temperature rises to 110C (and your score is improved)

Is my tempreading simply wrong or? Since everyone seems to have crazy high temps. I get around 75 with an overclocked 8600 in my 3415w when gaming, and I'm in a warm room.
