I'm using the 101.8 drivers from the Zepto site, but I can't get some games running because there is an error with the drivers I think. I know www.laptopvideo2go.com but I don't know which drivers are for what.

    Thanks

Is that the one you use? I'm not sure exactly how I proceed... do I need a modded INF? If so, how do I use it? I read the FAQ's, but I'm still not very clear, any clarification about the INF thing would be greatly appreciated.

    Do this:
    1. Download driver, double click and select extract,
    2. Download modded INF and replace original INF in extracted folder,
    3. Install & reboot.

Hmmm, I tried the 165.01 and 160.04 and both didn't work. The system didn't recognize the GPU.

I extracted the files from 160.04 and replaced the INF with the modded one. I ran the setup... and I end up with nothing :S

Out of interest, who is officially responsible for a particular laptop's graphics drivers? Is it the company who manufactures the GPU and chipset (nVidia) or the laptop manufacturer (Zepto)? Or someone else?

Nvidia developes the drivers and Zepto changes them to fit Zepto laptops. Well no, Zepto doesnt to this the OEM manufactuerer does.

@DIGev I am not sure what went wrong with yours. It should work. Try a different driver. You can also try to remove the old driver first and then install.

If Zepto (or Compal modify the drivers to work on the laptop is it wise to start downloading drivers from 3rd party sites? Am I likely to see hugely improved results by getting different drivers?

I dont think they do much more then modify the inf file just like the modders and do some testing. Testing is the main part. Modders dont test. Atleast not on the many different laptops out there.

But nothing bad can happen really. Worest case is that you need to reformat and reinstall windows. I dont think that will happen. Normaly simply moving to a different version (sometimes lower version are better) or the original Zepto drivers will fix problems.

    Thanks Wave,

For now I seem to be getting good results from the original Zepto drivers so I will stick with those until they update them!!

I uninstalled the 101.8 drivers and installed the 160.4 clean... same result.

However I got the games working. I'm running DoW: Dark Crusade with max details and no problems or slowdowns :)
It also runs WoW with everything maxed, 60FPS constant outside and 40+ in Shattrath and Ironforge.

    Good to know.
When choosing a laptop, I guess it's important to have confidence that the OEM will be around for a while as well as put the effort in to produce high quality drivers. I never really considered this as a factor before.
