So I'm probably going to get a new laptop soon, and I would be grateful if someone could answer my questions.

    1) Which Zepto models have HDMI? If not, which have DVI? Because I've ordered a FullHD LCD TV and I wanna be able to jack in the computer. If anyone knows the exact difference between a laptop with HDMI and one with DVI, it'd be great...

    2) Is the 8600GT all Zepto ships? Are there any improved graphics coming that I could wait for? I'm an avid gamer so yeah, I can use every bit of power. Also, these 8600GT have the slower memory right? DDR2?

    3) Do the 45nm cpus really only work with Vista? I'm considering a dual-boot.

    4) Why don't Zepto have a 3gb choice for memory? I think it'd be perfect for windows XP users, since XP can use about 3-3½ gigs.

    5) This zepto WLAN card, is it any good or should I go for the Intel?

So yeah, I'm looking at the 6625W at the moment. I hope it will keep that rebate for a while, I probably wouldn't buy it at the normal pricing (there's an Acer Aspire with HMDI output and similar specs that is competitively priced, but no penryn). Right now it looks sweet though.

    1) If I am correct none of them have it now. The difference between HDMI and DVI is that HDMI also carries sound instead of just video. As far as I know, all Zepto's currently have VGA. And somewhere in Q3, DVI or HDMI will be added.

2)There are a couple of laptops with weaker graphics cards that Zepto sells, but 8600GT is basically anything they ship with at the moment. The only Graphics card that is more powerfull at the moment are the 8700MGT and 8800MGT, the latter one, might be added in the upcoming 17 inch Zepto laptop. I don't know for sure though.

    3) Someone else wil have to answer this question for you. But as far as I know, it will work with XP, although not every aspect of the Penryn cores will work properly or for that matter, at all.

    4) I don't know, but Vista can only use 3GB's max as well, unless you buy the 64-bit edition of either Vista or XP. You can always take 2GB and buy a 1GB stick elsewhere and put it in.

    5) Not sure, I myself have the Intel one in my 6625WD, it works great. Someone else with some more experience with the Zepto one might be able to tell you more about it.

None of our models have HDMI or DVI at the moment, only VGA, but it will be added later on. I can't comment on when as we are not allowed to until there's been released a press release concerning this.

    2) Is the 8600GT all Zepto ships? Are there any improved graphics coming that I could wait for? I'm an avid gamer so yeah, I can use every bit of power. Also, these 8600GT have the slower memory right? DDR2?

The 8600M GT is the most powerful chip we use at the moment in our laptops, and yes they use DDR2 RAM. This will ofcource be changed later on as we release new models, once again I can't comment on when this might be.

    3) Do the 45nm cpus really only work with Vista? I'm considering a dual-boot.

We've only tested them with Vista, also it is only in Vista all the poweroptions for the Penryn processor works. So regarding btterytime there shouldn't be much of a difference between the T7xxx series and the T8xxx/T9xxx under Windows XP. I havn't got any real life experience with this myself though.

    4) Why don't Zepto have a 3gb choice for memory? I think it'd be perfect for windows XP users, since XP can use about 3-3½ gigs.

Good idea. I think they have had the talks in our sales department about this before, but I'll bring it up again. :)

    5) This zepto WLAN card, is it any good or should I go for the Intel?

The Zepto 300Mbit WLAN card uses the Atheros AR5008X chip. It's a fine card for the price, but if you are using no-name network equipment it might be better with the Intel card as there could be incompability issues with the Atheros chip on the no-name equipment. :)

Alright, thanks for the answers. I'll consider things carefully. But as it looks now, I can't wait (need the laptop for school) and since HDMI/DVI is on my list I probably won't get a zepto. Good thing you're working on the HDMI though!
