Ok, I just feel I have to make this post. Recently my samsung hybrid drive broke down after only 6 months usage (what a useless harddrive it was). Anyway, DAMN I thought, now i will be without computer for a while etc etc. So I contact Zepto and they say that they don't sell these drives anymore. Instead I was offered a 7200rpm with the same capacity! Not only that though, they sent the harddrive the day after I contacted them. They said it was ok that I sent the faulty one after I received theirs! At this time I was already very happy, it couldn't have gone smoother. Until I found out I had received not only a 160gb 7200rpm HD, but a 7k200 Hitachi drive!!![]()
So thank you Zepto for this great customer service!

) Thats good to hear, i guess the slightly higher price of the zeptos compared to rizeons does have its good...
You better change the specs in your sig!

That's amazing,
My Hybrid 80gb has been freaking out lately and having a host of issues:
- runs forever
- constantly requires chkdsk
- locks computer up, have to hardboot again upon reboots
Do these sound familiar? -

Good to hear of some quick service.
I fear that the hybrid HDD technology wasn't fully figured out prior to release.

John,
As you know, I'm no techie, but it seems that between 4gb (on a 32bit Vista) and 1gb Turbo Memory (internal) coupled with a Hybrid Drive could have lots of memory conflicts. Plausible? -

I'm hoping/expecting that Intel's next chipset will develop the Turbo memory concept to 8GB or more of non-volatile RAM which will be enough to take serious work off the HDD. It could hold a big chunk of the boot files, the hibernation file and a big cache. Sony are showing the way with the version of the TZ which has an internal SSD and a removable HDD which shares the optical drive bay.

Follow-up:
New harddrive installed and seemed to be running fine, until around the 10th
reboot. Now roughly in in 4 or 5 boots results in a hung system, right after
the bios load. So far no need to run the chkdsk utility however, as in the old
hybrid.
No unusual software was loaded, system is fairly clean other than Norton 360 firewall
and Skype.
Ideas or thoughts welcome! -

Your hybrid HDD problems sound similar to those described here. However, the 80GB hybrid is not mentioned.

Sorry, I should've clarified:
New Hard Drive is NOT a hybrid. It's a 160gb 7200rpm job.
Their's been a total of 4 hangs in roughly 15 reboots.
Thanks though for the input! -
check if its seated properly

Already checked after 2nd failed boot. Since then 1 failed boot. It may
of course be a fluke, I hit it pretty hard with installs and updates after the
initial switch... time will tell. -
Was does the "failed boot" look like? Blue screen? Also the hanging - can you move the mouse pointer while it's "hung"?
Did this start happening only after you got your machine back or was this happening before?
You never know but it could even be unrelated to the harddrive if it's been happenening before and after the drive change. Memory is a good culprit of random weirdness, so are gfx cards...
Btw, heavy installation should not cause any issue whatsoever. -

Failed boot is post bios load, then black screen, periodic but very light
harddrive activity for 1-3 minutes then nothing for 5+ minutes.
The system hangs began happening more recently, about 1 week after
the keyboard was replaced and docking station connections fixed.
They happened with the previous hyrbid harddrive (with other related
problems) and with this new non-hybrid drive. Thus far however, the
drive has increased system stability in the sense that I've not yet had
to do a chkdsk which was an almost weekly process with the hybrid. -

Woopsadaisy!
UPDATE: After reinstalling system and updating via windows update and Zepto FTP,
this morning I noticed that now both ReadyBoost and ReadyDriver are enabled!
When using the Hybrid only Ready boost could ever be enabled.
A small thank you
