Hey guys, I have a 6130 and recently it's been giving me trouble. For some reason it just won't stay turned on anymore. The laptop turns on for about 3 seconds, then it shuts off. This is whether with or without the battery and with the AC Adaptor plugged into the laptop. The orange light blinks whenever I have the battery in and the AC Adaptor plugged into the laptop. I don't know whether it's a problem with the battery or AC Adaptor. The weird thing is that when I plug the AC Adaptor into the laptop, there's this low humming sound coming from the Adaptor. Just found this other thread similar to mine, http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=47436. I hope it's not something wrong with the motherboard as I think my warranty is over.

The blinking led means its charging, goes solid when charged. You can check you adapter with a volt meter. The output is 20vdc from top to bottom on both sets. Becareful and not short to the outer ring, it is tied to ground.

I have a 6130 also. I do not think it will start with out a good battery. There is a controller card tied to the MB that controls the charging. There has been reports of poor solder joints on the socket. If you caught it early enough you may just need to repair the bad joints.

You can order parts from Uniwill. Averatec will not sell to you. And you really don't want to deal with there service dept. Really BAD.

I have the service manual for this laptop. It includes part numbers. There is a slite difference in the MB. Uniwill has 128meg graphic ram, where the Averate only has 64.

I requested the manual from Uniwill, took about 10 days to get. I will sent it to you if you would like, its a 5 meg file. Lots of pictures. A pretty good manual.

Thanks for the answer. Hmmm, I haven't tried checking the adapter with a volt meter. I'll try this, to make sure it isn't a problem with the adapter. I also forgot to mention occassionally the laptop would stay on once it's powered. But most of the time it just goes off after like 3sec when turning it on. Also, the blinking led would only blink for a few minutes, may be 5mins or less and it would stop completely. So I know the battery isn't fully charged.

Ok, I threw with this. Just don't have the patience anymore. Decided to bring it to a PC Tech shop so that they can look at it. I'll get an answer by Monday, hopfully it isn't anything too serious that involves the motherboard. Thanks for the help here.
