    AL27 Recovery CD

    I royally screwed up and deleted the wrong partition....Would someone have a link to the software or specifically directhd utility?

    direct hd is automatic. don't forget your laptop has to be turned of totally "not standby or hibernate" for this feature to work.

    as for the recovery software. I would just find an xp home disc and reload with it using the prod key on the bottom of your laptop. There's really nothing on the recovery cd that's really needed. drivers include:

    VIA Chipset and video drivers.
    synaptics touchpad drivers
    ralink rt2500 nic "wireless"
    via nic "hard wired"
    smartlink 56k modem

    I was lucky enough to make my recovery cds before i formatted. If you have trouble with a specific driver let me know and maybe I can shoot you an email with it or something.

    So the Host PC doesn't need any software for directHD? I thought I needed directhd software in order for it to work......

    You don't. If the host machine is windows xp/me/2000 it will see the laptop as a removable device by default, and you can drag and drop files to whatever location on the drive. If the host is windows 98 you may need to find some drivers for it.
