After a long time wondering if Averatec would update the drivers on their site, I was pleased to find they have done just that, including posting the ALPS touchpad driver. Recently I installed Kensington Mousworks software which seemed to eliminate the ALPS from my 6240, although it was still listed on the HD. I have now downloaded all of the updates for CPU, WLAN, Audio, etc and my laptop is now working perfectly. Also resolved strangely was a problem I had hooking up a Maxtor 250 One Touch, which previously had frozen the entire system, although I cannot say that was because of any updates I installed from the AV website.
