I have the AV3225HS it works great but, I only get 1 hour of DVD playback time on batteries. I've read reviews that say the 3150 supposedly gets 2 hours of playback time (tomshardware.com). Has anyone else tried this? Please let me know what kind of battery life you are getting. I called Averatec and their customer service line and they said that this model is just more power hungry, I was hoping that my battery was bad and just needed to be replaced. I actually returned the 3150 that I bought at Staples because I could get the 3225HS at Micro Center at about the same price after all the rebates ($700 not including tax). Now I need to buy two extra batteries if I really want to do very much totally wireless work.

Also I have done just the sercurity updates for XP they seem to work fine.

I have an update to the battery life issue. I went to www.gocyberlink.com for the PowerDVD 5 update patch and installed it. In the PowerDVD main menu there is a configuration selection and within this menu is a power setup tab, I selected the MAX BATTERY setting. I set the audio setup for stereo to reduce processing overhead. I also setup Windows XP power management for MAX BATTERY. Using these settings I was able to get 110 minutes of DVD playback on a fully charged battery. These settings do reduce performance, sometimes the play back is a bit jerky and every so often it will freeze for about half a second while it is buffering data from the optical drive to RAM. I did notice a significant reduction in hard drive access in this mode. I also downloaded the newest PowerNow driver from the Averatec web site. I guess I solved my own problem but any other comments might be useful.

Remember to turn your wireless LAN off if you're not using it, as that will save some power. Otherwise there is also a "Power Save" mode for the wireless LAN. Double click the antenna icon in the system tray, look under the General tab for the Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter, click Configure, then Advanced, and you'll see it in the Property list. I'm not sure how much this reduces wireless performance.

Back to the DVD, I installed the patch for PowerDVD 5 but I don't see the Power Setup tab. Where exactly is it?

After starting PowerDVD 5, if you right click on the window in which the DVD playback is displayed a menu will appear, at the bottom of the menu should be a CONFIGURATION selection. Left click on CONFIGURATION and a new window will appear. There should be a tab labeled "Mobile Power Settings". Select this tab to enter the power settings window and then choose your desired configuration.

The patch that I found on Cyberlink's site is PDVD_Patch.1107.exe. I ran it and my version now seems to be called SR version 031210-02 instead of the expected version 1107, and I have no Power Setup tab in my configuration menu. Very strange.

Is this the same patch you're referring to?
