Hello! Can anyone here please help?
AVERATEC (3280 Series) -
I have no idea if this notebook can have an extra memory card put in or not. I found one memory card in a access pannel on the back.(DDR333)512MB
I'm not very experenced at this sort of thing at all. Anyway I bought an extra memory card for this laptop and i can't find a slot to add it anywhere.
I took off all panels / removed the keyboard etc.. I'm kind of afraid to remove that metalic type tape and pannels - covering the area under the keybord.
1) does anyone know if this model has an extra memory slot?
2) If yes - Where do i put this memory card in at? Is there an extra slot and where is it located?
PS: i've looked at the online user manuals and don't see anything on the 3280 series.
Thank you so much to any that reply.

Note: I went to crucial.com and did a "system scan" it found an available (empty) slot.. but i can't find it.. any help would be great.

Do i have to remove the casing to get to this? I was trying to remove it, it felt like it was about to break.. any tips on taking this thing apart or accessing this other mem slot will be helpfull. (can i pull off that metalic tape like stuff?.. )
thanks again. -
The 3270 (3280) only has one slot for ram. Which is where your 512 mb memory is now. Your bios probally has support for two ram slots the motherboard does not have the slot for it. That is why crucial is showing the "extra" free slot. You can upgrade the 3270 to 1 gb of memory by replacing the current 512mb stick with a new 1 gb stick. But be careful as this notebook is known to have overheating problems with cheap 1 gb memory that will cause freezing and BSODs. Good luck

Thanks alot for your reply! no wonder i could not find it!
Thanks a ton. -
PS: this is my son's computer, I told him it had only one slot - but after reading some of the posts / and crucial.com scan i started to believe there was another one somewhere.I guess not thanks a million.. . + (Best Buy gave him a 512 mb - so they had it wrong too) I was about to take the whole thing apart. LOL. glad i posted here.
*we'll put in a 1 gb stick as you suggested
This notebook is having overheating problems already, with a game he's trying to run.(*your right on target) --
Is there anything we can do to help the overheating problem? -
cooling pad? new fan?

A cooling pad would work to keep it a little cooler, I dont think you could install a new fan... What game is he trying to play?
