I see the memory for sale comes in pc2100, pc2700, and pc3200 and now also ddr2 pc400. I know the manual says use 2.5 volt pc2700 but is it alright to use something faster w/ more bandwidth anyway? (as long as the voltage is 2.5?) I think if I gotta replace both chips to upgrade to 2 gb, I would prefer to get a matching set but get a higher bandwidth rate. No? Is the new DDR2 compatible?

The DDR2 probably won't work, you won't see the benefit even if it does. Same goes with anything faster, it will work, but you won't get any speed improvement. You're just paying extra for something you don't need.
