I know it's quite a long time when the issue of broken nVidia GPUs was discussed here on this board. But I wanted to express my thanks to those people involved in this thread, explaining how to revive a broken GPU.
I am happy to add another success story to the ones already mentioned here so many years ago.
In this case it's a Zepto Zenote 6224W. I bought it in 2007 or so. It's a great notebook and it worked fine for many years. In 2013 it broke down. I had played too much Starcraft on it and the GPU problem occurred due to overheating.
I had read about "baking mainboards" in other contexts before but had not tried it yet. This weekend I decided to make another attempt to repair my notebook. I found this forum and was encouraged by the success stories mentioned here.
I used an ordinary hairdryer and heated the GPU for a couple of minutes. Then I let it cool down for a while. After starting the notebook I saw the Zepto logo screen again and what a joy it was.
However, I damaged the top cover of my notebook where the keyboard is attached. It's the plastic cover where the function buttons, power button the mouse and the LEDs are located. The keyboard itself is fine.
Is there any chance of finding such a cover for the Zenote 6224W? Maybe someone has a broken Zenote and would be willing to provide the needed spare part? That would be really great.
Any help in finding a source for this is much appreciated.
Thanks.
George
