This is a botique retailer that I've always seen mentioned in on-line publications and the like, but I can't say I've ever actually seen a report from a real user.

Anybody know anybody who actually bought a WidowPC gaming notebook?

Borrowing looks, not a spider fan either. And they tend to overheat in my experience or at least run to hot. I wouldn't recommend them.

I am typing on a Widow PC at the moment. I have AMD X2 4800+, 2x's 100 gb 7200, 7800 GTX, 2GB RAM APACER. This system runs cool, much cooler than the ALIENWARE I returned x2's. It never freezes, runs like a champ, is quick and puts my desktop to shame. They have customer support that is outrageous!! I had received the wrong computer and they let me keep the computer until next one arrived and gave me 1000.00 off as well as a cooling pad etc. I would highly recommend WIDOW PC and will buy from again!! I am really amazed at the quality and speed. I am not into the Spider thing but beyond that it ROCKS!!!!

they look nice. Seems like they prefer using Clevo, as do Alienware and Sager laptops.

In my opinion the Clevo D900T is utter junk. It probably sounded great on paper but the actual product is to hard to keep cool. I have a 7700 and after replacing the videocard once. The laptop started smoking and turned off never to come on again. Sending it to alienware to be fixed. I want to sell it so bad but I would feel terrible selling such a unstable machine to anyone. ONce I get the new video card in they came out with a update to set the temp threshold that seemed to help alot heat wise. I think this time the power supply in it went out.

I had the same problems with 7700 and actually recieved the computer with problems. They had me send it back to fix and had it for 3 weeks. Upon return the problem still was there. I reinstalled windows about 6 times. I was sooooo mad. I finally got Alienware to return minus the restocking fee, but it took almost 5 months of headaches. I switched to Widow PC and the system I have now is stable no problems no freezing etc. Have you attempted to use cooling pad etc.?

I checked out the website. and they do some very nice laptops. I would certainly get one. They are very expensive though, and not all the components are uopgrade-friendly. For example, the laptops I looked at have hard drive using a SATA connection, not IDE, which is simpler.

They are easy to upgrade (hd, videocard). My machine runs like a top, I actually had the CPU upgraded to FX 60 dual core, Wow this thing is a beast!!

That's incorrect - the SATA interface is much simpler and more modern. The only issue is that the drives are not as widely avaliable, and a bit more expensive.

Yeah that is correct, and I see you have 80 gb SATA from Sager as well. It is possible, but not a snap. Depends on what you think easy is as well

Well, I was actually referring to the hard drive interface itself - SATA vs UATA - when I said it was simpler. ;)
