Hi,
Those laptops are a total rip off. You can buy the exactly the same laptops from Sager for a fraction of the price. Check out www.sagernotebook.com -
two different animals. -
SAME laptops though.. doesnt matter what they do.. there are a million places to buy sager and that rebrand them

Of course, those prices are indeed a rip-off, for about $2,000~ or more dollars, the 1 Beyond GoFlex317 HD they announce in their site is just a Sager NP9262 with old and outdated specs (they do not offer any of the Q9XXX Quad Core processors nor the 500 GB Hard Drives, and they do not tell you what graphics card(s) goes into the laptop), you could get the same configuration they announce in their site for around $4,000~ dollars, and it'd contain the very same components the one in their site did, or you could add better components for around the same price, but $6,595 is just overkill.
About that they are "focused for VFX", the specs won't differ, only the software installed on them, since it is Clevo that chooses what is compatible with each laptop, they are the ones making the chassis for them and that do the developing and research, and they are not focused for certain task, they are all the same, it is like selling a broom that is "focused on sweeping the corridor's floor", but sell it for a higher price as a premium, yet it would work perfectly on any room or place you choose to sweep with it, and so would any other broom.
Also, they are charging you for "configured specifically for video and graphics work", while it is something that anybody with little to medium experience with computers can do, and it might not be true after all, they are trying to sell an overpriced laptop, it would not surprise me if they used any method possible to lure the customer into buying their products, it is business after all... but the customer should not fall for such baits that are present everywhere, and even if it was true, it is not fair that they charged such a high premium for just a little configuration here and there.
Anybody knows anything about laptops 1 BEYOND?
